Smile New Si owner saying Hello!

Hey all,
Just grabbed a Fiji Blue Si Sedan from the dealership on Thursday and wanted to introduce myself quick.

I love this Si.

In 1996 I purchased a Jetta VR6 GLX that I totally loved. That car felt like an extra limb on my body....it was perfect. I had it modded perfectly and loved tracking the car at Lime Rock. Unfortunately she met her demise when I was almost taken out head-on by a drunk driver. She sacrificed her metal body for mine. Within a week I was in a 2005 Jetta GLI 1.8T. After one year I had every part from the Neuspeed catalog in that car. However, the car never felt the same, or as connected as my VR6. After two and a half years I sold her. I went into a 2007 Mazdaspeed6. Holy 5hit what a ride! This car totally ripped. The handling alone, especially with the summer tires was insane. Unfortunately I didn't know I was basically buying stock in SUNOCO in order to keep the car going. The car had a 15.9 tank and not once did I ever hit 300 miles to the tank. By buying this Si I'm saving $1200 - $1300 in gas alone.

This Si is the first car since my beloved VR6 that invites you to drive it. Sounds crazy, but because it makes itself so easy to drive and it communicates every aspect of that sensation so well is why it's so easy to drive in a spirited fashion. The seats fit me like a glove. The interior layout is so well thought out. So basic, yet functional, yet sporty all wrapped into one. The exhaust is probably the best stock exhaust I have ever heard except for maybe an R32......but to be included in that kind of company with that sound is unbelievable. Funny thing is that after test driving the car, checking out the interior, looking under the hood and going over minor options/accessories that I not once ever turned on the darn stereo. I have to say, once again, this stereo is the best OEM stereo I have ever heard. When I had a free minute last night I plugged in my iPod and played with the EQ and WOW.....this thing has some serious sound quality to it. I'm not just talking power, I mean a perfect balance of tone, power, clarity all rolled into one. I felt totally psyched like I had just found $100 in my back pocket.

I leased this car so I initially don't plan on going crazy with the mods. However, this car feels like it's singing to me every time I drive it. The driving experience alone blows the doors off the Mazdaspeed6. NOT the performance....the experience! I feel so much more satisfied after wringing this Si through the gears. I can definitely see myself buying this thing out within a year or two and then throwing on all the typical bolt-ons. Until then, maybe the reflash along with the K&N...we'll see.

Thanks and take care,
-Chris

This Long Island thread everyone is referring to is the one about the Wed evening meets, right? Weeknights are impossible for me. Weekends are my only shot at hanging out. Between work and family free time is hard to come by. However, I do have a soft spot for hot bagels. And I just happen to know of this bagel place right on the corner of Wantagh Ave & Jerusalem Ave that makes hot bagels starting at 12:15am on Fri & Sat nights. If anyone were ever up for it we could do a hot bagel run over there and get some one night.

Maybe I'll start a new thread about it....
