Have winter tires? Sometimes they are cheaper than the consequences.

ABS didn't work? if true, Honda is responsible. Likely it wasn't slippery enough at the time to engage them or (not meant to insult) you pumped the brakes so the ABS didn't engage, basically you manually disengaged them. The accident report will note the weather conditions.

FYI: I think the stock LX/EX tires suck the big hard one. Sure i still have mine on it, but in adverse conditions, I'll be in my 4WD truck.

The ABS doesn't suck. You are likely too young to have driven vehicles without ABS... trust me, ABS rocks! There is no safety feature that can help you, except for being aware of black ice is present. If you are on ice, you are already screwed... just hang on and hope you catch some grip. Here is a safety feature... slow down.

Actually, I got a letter in the mail about a recall that had to do with my car's ABS.

By the way, from personal experience, I felt that if you're going downhill in the snow or such, you stop faster if you push the brakes just enough so the ABS doesn't kick in.

your abs is probably working fine. If it wasn't, you're abs warning light should be constantly lit. just gotta be more careful. sucks about the bumper but it could have been worse and you're ok. hope you get it fixed soon

the abs is great. It already came in handy for me once. and you don't wanna turn it off cause you may need it and trust me, you'll miss it. there are probably very few people who can outbrake a car with abs than the same car one without abs
