Since a cheap paint job is going to look like crap anyway, why not just spray-bomb it?

In bodywork/paint more than anything else, you get what you pay for.

You're not going to find a cheap paint job...

Actually, yeah you will. But then everyone will laugh at you because of how sh*tty it looks. A decent paint job will run you a few thousand. Sure you could go to Maaco, but what's the point of that? A few days turn around for a sh*tty job? Nah...just get it done right the first time and be done with it.

Hey now MAACO does a pretty decent job at least around here they do. I had my last car painted there for $300 and they did a nice job on it. They do fenders and bumpers and stuff for less. I think the painters there have around 20yrs experience under their belt.

For the body kits make sure who ever you get to do it adds the flex additive. That will allow the paint to flex if the plastic does. Otherwise the paint will crack and possibly fly off your car.

Why not just save up for a quality paintjob? Do it right the first time so you wont have to worry about the paint chipping/cracking etc.

Its your car though, so do what you want.

Every MAACO job I've seen in Vermont and Maryland has been crap. Maybe not to your eyes or someone else's eyes, but I'm a stickler for great paint. It'll never be perfect, regardless of who you take it to, but there's a difference between good paint and GREAT paint. I've seen better jobs from DIYers. The biggest problem is the prep work. If the prep sucks, the paint sucks.

Your right that might have been why I got a good paint job. I did some of the prep work like sanding myself and I washed the car real good before I took it in to have it painted.

I used to be a hard core modder lol and i would get the cars fixed up, painted by maaco and sold. Honestly i never had a problem with there work, a little overspray but paint remover took care of that (and a razor to get it off the glass) but for 300 bucks it was great. they use DuPont paint which is decent. ALTHOUGH i never kept a car for more than 6-months after hooking it up and getting it painted; so i dont know how long that $300 paint job lasted But ur right about the prep work, i always drove my cars to them already primered and sanded. ( about 6 cars so far they painted for me )
