Theres nothing different aside from the link you follow to get here. the rules on post one are the same rules that govern the whole site, they are specifically mentioned because people werent following them in the chat threads

I can provide a screen shot of your entire rep history if you'd like. I could do the same to the entire group in here as well. Rep whoring went on... I don't care what any member in here says. Giving rep back and forth for no reason beyond giving it, or handing it out so you can hand it back to another person is not the point of reputation. The whole rep system was removed before because it was abused so much. If you'd like me to spend some time and go back and edit every NE members history on what I "think" should deserve rep, it's not going to happen. Countless warnings were given in the thread regarding rep whoring, yet it continued.

Is it really asking that much to not abuse the reputation system or use this thread as a "whore thread"? I'm not pointing this at you or any one member on the site. I'm asking everyone....

The same goes for selling items. Countless warnings and posts were deleted where members were selling their goods in this thread instead of in the FS area. Some of you may know one another, but I've had people come to me because of being ripped off, or asking for tracking info, or whatever bs from these threads. Members have used these threads to get around the FS section rules. Shipping expenses have come out of my pocket when members have been screwed in these threads. It's not just this one, but others as well. Again, is it that hard to use the FS sections?

If people want to just type "post post post" - join vip to up your post count.

If you want to carry on a conversation - use the thread.

I just have a quick question, why not let people whore outside the VIP thread? I mean this thread was created for the NE members to talk, carry on a conversation, nothing specific. I don't think we're hurting anyone, i mean it's the same people that read this thread and know what's going on. I understand the whole rep thing, but whoring? I might be wrong, but there's been a lot more of talking going on here than whoring. I don't see why you have to go to VIP to whore, i really don't. It's not fun to whore in a thread where everyone whores, here sometimes you come with the "post post post" and other people jump in the thread and a conversation starts. Just my opinion.

search engines and other sites read all of the content on this site.

post post post - is a waste of space and server resources. VIP'ers have that luxury I guess you could say. The VIP members know what they are allowed to do in VIP areas. Every post on this site has an expense to some degree. The more space, page views, posts, = more server requirements. VIP members pay to "whore" if you will.

They're paying to have a signature, have extra pm space, have extra upload space, have a larger profile picture, and the ability to post in vip areas. They all have expense. Regular members are basically joining that post post post mentality to boost their post counts. It's not needed in the general public which is even scanned by search engines daily.

by the way - I have no hard feelings toward any member in here. I know some have PMed myself saying they feel like they are "in a bad book, or being watched" all the time. It isn't the case. I know some of you may have myself or other mods for the decisions that have been made... and so be it. Put the blame on myself and not the other staff members.

Just use the thread without the rep abuse, sales, and post whoring.

I'm not trying to be a bad guy

what was the trigger to set everything in motion now? Why was this not done 50-100,000 pages ago?

I understand what you're saying, but how come other sites using the same software have a bigger inbox (200 messages without having to go VIP), a Signature, and other privileges that VIP's have but without having to pay?
I mean $30 a year is not like i'm going to lose my car over that amount of money or anything like that, but i was just wondering. Also, paying to whore is basically what you're stating right? If you pay you can whore, but if you don't pay you can't whore...
Not trying to be a dick or anything, just saying what's going on through my mind now.

differences between paying/non paying memberships

I've been on sites who have 1k pm limits, 500, 2, 0 pm limits and everything in between. At one point about 3 months ago I looked at PM stats....

there were close to a quarter of a million on the server that were in the "unread status". Meaning new pm's that people hadn't read yet. That isn't a single other pm that is on the server. As the site continues to grow - the site will continue to be handing out PM space. It's a never ending battle over hd space and server bandwidth.

You pay to have VIP privileges... and those privileges take place in the VIP areas....

Ok i won't argue anymore, i don't have anything else to say besides the fact that i don't understand why you can close a thread like the one we had, but you let threads like asking what color is better for the Si, or talking about putting 2 turbos in for a race, and well, i could go on and on about that...maybe with this you make changes all over the place, but i seem to doubt that. I think you guys went after the biggest threads, or the threads where a certain group of people post, and decided to crack down on it. Correct me if i'm wrong, but that's just how i see it.

I don't think you're arguing with me in the least. As far as I know - You're asking me questions...that's all.

Do you see the 2 turbo thread open? It was closed as soon as a mod read it.
The thread wasn't needed .... obviously.

As far as opinion threads - they'll never end. What intake is best for my SI? Which is better AEM or Injen? What color is the best for my SI?
Every person will answer those questions differently, and people want input. They don't know what they want, or they haven't done their research on what product is better. If they don't use the search button - that's what happens.

"crack down" - we started a new clean thread. I don't see why this is such a big problem? Now when you look at the page number - it's lower?

Post count to me is like miles on a car, really means nothing this day in age. High post count = highway miles. Low post count = weekend drivers. Things still work the same.

It is NOT a status on the site.
