Oh noez!! (Slight FA5 gore)

I woke up this morning really thirsty.

Being the broke college kid that I am, I walked to my car to get my bottle of Mountain Dew. As I walked closer, it looked like my window was open, but I wasn't sure since I didn't put on my glasses that morning.

As I got closer, I became almost sure that my window was open, so I smacked myself for keeping my window open overnight.

When I got next to the car, I realized it was the worst situation possible.

I'm not mad or anything, 'cause shit happens, especially in Jamaica Queens.

What I don't understand, however, is that whoever did this stole my POS stick-on GPS from 5 years or so ago (now worth about 50 dollars), but didn't think about taking my radar detector, which as far as I know, are $250~300 new, so should still be worth a good 200 dollars since it's brand new and in mint condition. They also didn't bother taking my Coach wallet, which was about $150 although it didn't have any money in it.

But yeah... I'm sure it'll buff right out

Anyone know how to install windows for cheap?

Also, the state of confusion I was in reminded me of that Dane Cook skit about breaking and entering... Anyone see that one?

Ugh... I wish that they'd just stolen my car, so I can either file a police report and catch them, or have insurance pay for a new SI...

Oh, I didn't bother making a police report, by the way, since I thought it wasn't worth the troubles over a crappy GPS.

That blows. It seems like it will cost you more to fix the window than the value of the item taken....

Sorry to hear that happened, My ride was broken into a few months ago and I am still finding glass in my car.

They left my radar dectector and 50 cds behind in my car but took 2 jackets and some keys.

I did file a police report but I am not sure why I bothered to be honest. I also wish they stole my ride cause I would have had it replaced with a brand new 08.

Oh man, Im sorry about that. I'd still file the report anyway, just so the Ins. will pay for your window.

the police report isnt about teh GPS. its abou the expensive window that needs to be replaced and the labor to do it. how are you going to file an ins. claim without a police report?

EDIT: actaully now that i looked up the glass...
www.hondaautomotiveparts.com sells it for $128.09 so it might not be that expensive of a fix.

Most peoples deductable is more than it costs to fix the window.. And last time I tried to claim something similar to this, they counted it as an at fault accident.. Geico FTMFL!!!

^i didnt think there was a deductable on glass coverage. BTW, your insurance agent tried to rip you. how is it possibly an at fault accident when you werent even in your car? (assuming a similar situation)

They do, it's seperate coverage though..
And I didn't have an agent cause I was with Geico... but yes they did try and rip me off. probably cause there was no police report. I'm with an independant agent now, and paying less than a third of what I was paying on one car with Geico.. but now have my wifes car included in the mix.. AIG FTW!!!

With my insurance, here's what I know:
You should file a police report, but you don't need it. File a claim with your insurance company and they will pay for the new window with no deductible and no hits on your insurance.

YMMV

Looks like whoever did it was an amateur and was too nervous about someone hearing the broken glass so they were going at hyper speed. Sorry to say that the cost of a new glass plus installation is worth more than what was stolen. At least you still have your car.

I have GEICO as well, with a CRAPLOAD of deductibles.

Heh, I think I'll roll up at a meet with no driver window...
