speeding ticket how much?

so i got nailed. i needed to get home by like 2am-ish and i was going west on the northern s. parkway. i saw the trooper on the side of the road and i ha dprob just hit the 90mph mark. needless to say he busted my ass. well he said since i slammed on my brakes when i saw him he clocked me at 75 which is 20 over the limit. The main guy was cool, his partner was a dick.

so i'm just pleading guilty b/c its a pretty open shut and if my dad finds out he'll prob give me a bicycle to ride around. i'm going to take a defensive course to get rid of the points but anyone know how much cash i'm going to get hit up for. its a new york state ticket i'm pretty sure. but i was in nassau county if that helps too.

ps. i know i shouldn't be driving fast and i respect cops and have cops in the family. just at 2am when there's no one on the road and i need to get home and i'm sober as a rock being a dick isn't called for.

Good question, I am going to mine Oct. 4th for doing 65 in a 45...

I peaded not guilty, no supporting deposition...cop said he likes to give locals a break...I was 1 mile from home...

He said if I plead guilty there is nothing he can do to help me out...kind of giving me a tip to plead not guilty and show to court...hope he drops it a little...

When I got my 58 in a 30 my fiance's dad (ex cop) said I was looking at about 400 with court fees. But, mine was basically double the speed limit. I'd say you'd pay like 200-250ish??

EDIT: I plead not guilty as well and had the speed dropped off entirely. I got a failure to use a turn signal. 2 points, from 6

if he gives locals a break, why did he even write you a ticket.

OP Here in WA, tickets are based on a % over you are going, but i dont know what the dollar value to the over speed limit is. I would guess 150-200. My buddy got one on our way to snowboarding in a 60. The cop wrote it for 75 and the ticket was only 80-90 bucks.

thanks for the replys.

just a side note but as an accouting major for some reason i keep a blance sheet in my head of almost all of my income. I had a good job this summer with a firm and made some pretty good cash they went directly into a savings account for a new car/grad school. i just notice how no matter how hard you try you can almost never keep ur head above water.

make some money, save it, buy some fun thing, emergency pops up spend a couple. find some random money, manage to save some more, another shit happens like a ticket. Man if life is just more of this i'm gonna be so depressed. i want to stay in college forever, lol

Just an Update in the complete incompitance of the NY System. I had sent my ticket in pleading guilty so my father would not find out. It was due the 15 of oct. i sent it in on the 5th of oct, through certified mail etc. the past day i came home and found a summons saying that i have outstanding traffic violations (citing my speeding ticket) Those idiots lost my ticket and gave me court date! well now my father has seen it, and he's an attorney. now he's involved and after the verbal beating i got for speeding he's going to make it go bye bye.

New York State is filled with complete morons, and if they can't file a guilty plea speeding ticket properly, i deserve to get off with nothing.

hm, well this is my first time seeing this thread.
just curious as to what part of the northern state you were on? i travel the suffolk part every day at about 75 mph...luckily i dont see cops too often.
is this your first offense? 40 mph over isnt taken lightly and fine will multiply when you have prior speeding offenses.

good luck with the outcome.

I'm wondering the same thing, I just got a ticket in White Plains. When I lived in Rochester you just show up in court and the DA would set the plea automatically to 2 points non-moving violation (about 80 plus 55 dollar surcharge) In MA you actually get to talk to the DA before you hear your case in court (I said it was my first traffic violation and she dropped the ticket) I don't know how the court system works around NYC, I'm sure I'll be in for some sort of surprise. Please let me know if your from the Westchester/NYC area.

i was clocked at 75 in 55, so its 20mph over. and its was actually on the meadowbrook parkway, which is state, right on the hempstead exit, i was coming out of hofstra. it was my first offense so i will most likely get fines, no points once negotiated.

I have a friend who dealt with nassau county po po, and the clerk said to her that they would remove points and double the fine and she would be done. ended up with 300 bucks for blocking and intersection and talking on a cell phone.

My ticket endeavor has been finalized. I plead guilty to speeding 20mph over the posted limit (75 in 55) on a new york state parkway. this got me $150 fine and 3 points on my license.

well i was clocked at 89 on a 45 and the staty pulled me over, i gave him the bullshit emergency story of my girl having probs with the baby shes carrying(not true) and he wrote down that i was only doing 10 over the speed limit and the ticket was for only 50 bucks not bad .........it was in Rhode Island, dont kno if that played a role in it and it was my first ticket

Sorry for your bad luck dude.

Seriously though, why are you blaming the cop??? You were going 35 over and managed to get off for 20 over. Sounds to me like he did you a favor....
