That drives me nuts. For me it's usually like this:

Buyer: Will you take X amount
Me: The price advertised is what I'm selling the car for.
Buyer: Yeah but will you take X amount
Me: No, the price advertised is what I'm selling the car for period.
Buyer: Come on work with me here, what is the best price you'll give it to me for?
Me: The price listed in the ad. If you think it's too high, then don't buy it, go elsewhere. Please do not send me any more email or try calling me with lowball offers. The price is very, very fair. Bye!

When posting on Craigslist for whatever I happen to be selling I'll get at least one nutbag like that.

Yea, we actually had a guy the other day that we met who was interested in buying our 93 accord. The bluebook value is ~$2500 and its needs some light work. I stated in the ad what the KBB value was and how i came to our price.

this is how it went:
buyer: can we meet tomorrow @ 5:30pm, i have cash in hand
me: sure, ill be there @ 5:30pm
[tomorrow @ 5:30pm]
buyer: ill take it for 1600, it has a small exhaust leak and needs some work
me: i know this, that is why i already knocked $500 off the KBB price. price is 2000.
buyer: i only have 1600.
me: then we dont have a deal. you said you had cash in hand, so you should have brought the whole amount.
buyer: i thought there was some negotiating room.
me: so you only brought 1600? that doesnt leave much room for negotiation, does it.
[pause]
me: 1700 and its yours [testing to see if hes a liar about how much $$ he has]
buyer: i only have 1600.
me: ok, then have a nice day.
buyer: you can leave here with cash in hand but are going to walk away over $100? you dont look like you need $100 (commenting on my dress code, social status, etc)
me: No, what YOU dont get is that its not $100 to me. Its $400 to me, on top of the $500 ive already discounted it off the KBB price because I know it need some work. Have a nice day.

Like I can picture some asswipe on his knees begging...waiting...for an answer "YES"
