Anyone local running HIDs???
I have been pondering the whole HID conversion for awhile, but I'm struggling with the issues with glare and the police issues that go along with the conversion. I'm not into it enough to succumb to the costs associated with a retro kit but like the idea of HIDs for a few hundred bucks. Has anyone in NY had any issues with local police/staties and HID's. I'd also like to see it in person. Later guys...

HID's are not illegal! It should be perfectly fine for you to have it. I had HID's for almost 3 years, and i drove all around the tri state including upstate ny in front of trooper, and they do nothing. |

The HIDs are much brighter than stock, I got 4300K, so they're pretty much just white, and the cutoff is almost identical as the stock, witch the exception of 1 bump on the cutoff line, and they are much brighter, everything looks much crisper on my right side than my left/non-HID side. I would go with a PnP kit over retro-fit to save money, you can get a good PnP kit for about $125-$150, which is alot better than retro-fit which is $800+. Lastly, so long as you stay away from Purple and really Blue color tones, no one will know they are aftermarket. Stick with 6000K or less, and you get better light output the lower the temp you go. |

HID lighting is in fact. Illegal. Gives police reason to stop you , if the car is not equipped with it factory.. it is a "distraction" and you will be summonsed. Retrofitting actually eliminates "being spotted" since it reduces glare & casts more visible like on the road , along with looking factory. Please don't reply that is legal...when it is in fact. NOT. |
