The Forbidden Kingdom

I went to see the sneak peak of The Forbidden Kingdom last Thursday, April 03. WoW. I thought this movie had one of the best martial arts/ fight sequence in any movie I've ever seen.

*Somewhat of a spoiler alert*

The fight sequence between Li & Chan lasted a good 5-10 minutes, and boy these guys put on a show.

All in all, I give this movie a 4 of 5 stars. It's a great family movie, considerng it has Jackie Chan in it, as he is known for his comedic performances. As far as the story goes, it's not as great as I thought it would've been. It doesn't measure up to the real story of the monkey king. The movie probably could've used another 30 minutes, instead of rushing some things (possibly a sequel too). Anyway, go watch it when it comes out guys, you'll enjoy it!!!

p.s. Jet Li FTW!!!

I want to see this movie and I want to like it, but I'm afraid I may end up not liking it. I watched a lot of clips/trailers/previews for it and it looks like it went the way of a Jackie Chan style movie.....the buddy-buddy comedy style rather than a more dark and serious film I was hoping for.

But hey! i'll never know unless I watch, so I hope to check it out this sometime this week.

i was afraid of watching it too... but i took my father to the movies last night and caught the 8:10pm show... got done with the movie and i was amazed at how good it was... on my way home a friend called and said he wanted to go to the movies and i had nothing to do at that point so i went again and saw it @ 12:25am... so i saw it twice already...

like the OP said i also feel it could've had a bit more story to it instead of rushing some parts... but that's b/c i'm a fan of 2hr+ movies, if it's 3hrs oh man those r the best IMO... i guess they wanted a good balance of fighting and story... they executed better on the fighting but the story just felt a bit rushed...

i love Jackie Chan movies and this one surely goes on the top of my list... Jet Li was awesome too... reminded me of some of his older work... both characters were very original and different which made for some great fight sequences...

i highly recommend this movie... i give it a 4.5 out of 5...

this movie was good, you get your original jackie chan action comedy, GOOD STUFF, there was like 2 or 3 parts, that made me die laughing

yeah, felt kinda short, wished it was 3 hours, then their'd probably be more comedy and action...... too good

The movie and story itself was pretty weak and felt really corny (but that's what I expected from seeing the trailers), although the fighting scenes were VERY good and the unexpected comedy was hilarious.

that's weird i felt like that from the trailers and got the opposite from watching the movie... the story IMO was good it just needed more substance... more time focused on the actual story would've been better... a bit more character development...

from the beginning it felt rushed... that's y they threw in a bunch of hints on the kid w/o going into his whole background/etc... jackie chan's background was explained really quick and so were the rest of the characters...

it prolly was Lionsgate giving them (director/producer) set time to have of the final cut that made some of the story get edited out... this happens all the time when u have a story and a company doesn't want it to be too long in their eyes...

idk how the comedy was unexpected if u've ever seen a Jackie Chan movie b4 it always has humor in it... and even some Jet Li movies... ok well not really...

on the fighting scenes...

It was AIITE. Just the fact that Jet Li & Jackie Chan together made me watch it. /

Save your money. It's a 'renter' movie.

Saw it last weekend. I give it a 4.5 out of 10. This is rental material. The story was lame. The plot was weak. Some parts made no sense. The acting was horrible. Especially the tough kid at the beginning and at the end.

Save your money people.

P.S. The fight scenes were ok. Nothing to go crazy over. The asian chicks were bleh....seen better.

the movie was good. great martial arts. Jackie Chan and Jet Li make a great combo.
the Plot was like the "Karate Kid." White boy dunno anything, white boy learns martial arts hardcore style in a short amount of time. that was a turn-off, but everythign else was good. and of course they had the 1 on 1 girl fight seen!
