Haha, true. I just find it funny that anything with JJ Abrams' name on it seems like a wild goose chase most of the time. Any Lost fan can tell you that there are definitely things in the background that are hidden clues. There are also a lot MORE things in the background that have nothing to do with anything.

Just want to make sure you're not caught up in the goose chase, and instead are staying on track. Carry on!

Wow, I haven't really had time to try and figure anything out lately.. but it's cool to see someone else geeking out on this thing.

So far (as cameron said) the only official websites that have been found are the 1-18-08 site and the slusho site. Abrams did say that there was at least 1 other site though, so that's what makes this so interesting to me. If it was just viral marketing he would want that site to be exposed somehow, but this seems like an ARG to me.

BTW, just in case you look in to it... He didn't specify that there were other sites, but he said "The only official sites that have been found so far are the 1-18 and slusho sites." Not exact words, but you get the idea. Why would he specify that those are the only ones that have been found if there aren't more?
I still think that the ethanhaas thing is related.. I know every nerd that's researching this gets pissed off when you say that, but it doesn't make sense that Paramount would have the vids of that removed off of youtube at the same time that the cloverfield vids were removed unless they were related. IDK, maybe that was just a part of this little game too.

When I get a little more time I'll be checking into a couple of things that have sparked my interest, but it's a close friend of mines b-day so I'm going to be his designated driver tonight.. means no time for me to nerd out. :\

I guess we'll see what this update is on august 1st, because there's still a good possibility that that site is up as promotion for a new game coming out.

Like Cameron said (again), we'll see wtf the deal is on comic con this year. I know I'll be watching g4 for the coverage.

As we all have dissected the trailer 1-18-08 bit by bit, you'll notice there's a lot of Japan references throughout:

* The party is for Rob leaving for Japan
* Sushi
* Japanese art work and statues
* Even a letter written in Japanese on the refrigerator
* Even the "viral" site http://www.slusho.jp/ is Japanese with the quote "You can't drink just six".

Where am I going with this?

1. Well on the "6th" of August 1945, the nuclear weapon "Little Boy" was dropped on the city of Hiroshima, Japan.

2. Romans 1:18. It says the following:
"God’s Wrath on Unrighteousness
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness"

Note: If Man messes with nature (nuclear bomb, pollution, etc.), monsters are born.

3. This history of "Slusho" says that drink was “discovered” by Noriko Yoashida whose nickname was Little “Whale”. She was known throughout the town as a great “scientist that did remarkable things with water” but later “disappeared while on the ocean”. Her son picked up the business and found an ingredients in it’s near “frozen-state” to preserve its freshness.

Does the three things ring a bell for any of you monster fans?

Now before you blast my post, here me out.

* Godzilla 1954 was about a dinosaur who woke from his “frozen state” at the bottom of the “ocean” from a “nuclear bomb” off from the coast of “Japan”. In the movie, a fishing “boat goes missing” off the coast. There was a “water scientist” who created the Oxygen Destroyer, a weapon that removed oxygen from water. It was used to kill Godzilla later in the movie.

* Gojira, his Japanese name, is a combination of the words “Whale” and Gorilla.

Side note: Godzilla was originally conceived to be a Squid before one of the producer said make him a dinosaur.

* Sony doesn’t own the rights to Godzilla anymore since they didn’t fulfill the contract agreement of making any movie after the 98 debacle.

* There have been talks and actual production of a CGI Godzilla movie for 2 years now. It was scheduled to be released in IMAX theaters but has faded away.

Could JJ.Abrams bought the rights and put him in this movie?

I, for one, would love to see this happen because Godzilla (1954) was a horror film anf that's what I feel this movie, 1-18-08, direction is. Godzilla was a walking nuclear bomb, and inflected fear and hard reminder to the horrors of the Hiroshima bomb.

not me. I would love to see this as an actual horror movie straight from the mind of JJ Abrams/rest of supporting cast. The horror movies that come out now are pure garbage, and one of the last good ones (if you saw it in a theater) was the Blair Witch Project. I know that a lot of people hated that movie, but it was unlike any other movie that had been released for years. Hell, the only movie I would know to compare it to would be Cannibal Halocaust, which was banned for a good deal of time.

I think it's time for a quality horror movie to come out, and I hope this one is it. I feel like horror movie fans are left in the dark right about now since every one to be released for quite some time has been garbage.

Anyways, I hope this is a fresh new movie that no one has ever even messed with before - that's my point. lol.
