Just got back from watching this movie.
I thought it was excellent. The monster was awesome, the whole movie was awesome.
And thankyou for prompting me to look into the right side in the last scene. Very important addition to the flick!

So you seen it huh? yeah thats really important cause people as saying that this movie doesn't explain alot of things,....but THAT scene explains the creature. It's not hard to figure out where this creature COULD have come from. I'm going to go see it again next Sunday with the GF cause I feel like i've missed alot of a few things. This movie is the kinda movie YOU HAVE to see again atleast 1 more time to have some closure on some things. PLUS, my GF missed seeing what is possibly the most important scene in the movie which is the coney island scene in the background.

After reading this thread I want to go back and look at the ocean scene. I liked the movie, but at the end I felt disappointed because I walked away knowing little more about the monster than I did walking in. And i hope to god that there is sequels to this movie, because it's left so wide open.

Looks like a bunch of people have seen the movie now. Cloverfield made $39.5 million this weekend. And I'm not even sure if that's including yesterday or not. I think it's time to open this up for spoilers. I'll change the title of the thread accordingly.

Yeah, crazy, wasn't it? If you watched closely about 20 seconds before her...incident...you'll notice a soldier was being carried away on a gurney. They were talking in the background about how he was a bite victim. You could see quite clearly that his intestinal region was...gone. Apparently, that's what happens when you get bitten by the spider-like parasites. You explode.

They also had a parasite in a containment chamber, probably so they could analyze it and find a cure for the bites.

i think you may have deleted my post about the sequel cam, but interested to see where they take that.

but as far as people not liking it, they were expecting a full blown monster movie on a godzilla scale where the monster is basically the star. this is a whole new genre and they did a fantastic job on something original. monster and all....i for one like this monster. he basically walks on all fours (out of 6, if you count those litttle stubs) and can stand to massive height.

on that note that could mean hes just a baby with those tiny arms and can get even bigger...i mean obviously hes pretty indestructible as it is...but only time will tell....check 1-18-08.com for those crazy pics it seems like they update them with new ones periodically

SPOILER:
At the very end of the movie, the last scene is the footage on the camera from before the incident. It is recorded a couple weeks before remember? Well in that last scene they aim the camera over the ocean for about 5 seconds. If you look carefully on the right you can see something come flying out of the sky and pummel into the ocean, leaving a reasonable splash. It is way out there in the ocean, but still noticeable if you know what to look for. What is it? The monster arriving of course! Very cool addition.

Hmm. I don't think I deleted any posts. I might have turned the text white.

I definitely think this is sequel worthy. There are several ways to do it as well.

In most scene's the monster is as big as the buildings. When it attacks HUD it doesnt look that big. I heard on one blog that there were two monsters. Any thoughts....
