What is 'Cloverfield'? I read somewhere that that's what Central Park is sometimes referred to as Cloverfield.... and then I also read that Cloverfield is a street where Bad Robot productions is.

We have a lot of members that want to read some reviews and what not before seeing the movie, but not be spoiled. I have a couple monster pics and questions myself. Within the movie, Cloverfield is just a code name for Central Park. I've never heard it called that before. Maybe Cloverfield is the name of the monster? Who knows. After seeing the movie, I still don't have an answer for you. As far as where the name came from, in Cali, there's an exit for Cloverfield (Blvd?), which is the exit you take to get to Bad Robot's offices. That's all there is to it.

If the production team can think of a fresh way to tell this same story (or one very similar to it), then yes, I think they will. Matt Reeves has already hinted that they have tons of ideas to move this story forward. On the Brooklyn Bridge, there's a quick scene of HUD taping someone else with a video camera, then for a couple quick seconds, they both film each other filming each other filming each other...

Closest Cloverfield (Drive) is in Albany, NY.

i heard the movie was godzilla meets blaire witch project and wasnt good.. but i dunno havent seen it. Gotta love a good ol' monster movie. I bet its better than that piece of shit "one missed call" what shitty idea for a movie. I knew that was gonna suck from the previews i saw before avp-r.

One thing i did not like about this movie is that it left you knowing nothing at the end.... i had so many questions, and the movie didnt answer them. lol

didnt JJ say a while ago that cloverfield was just a cover name for the movie so that people would have a harder time researching it? and then that name got too well known so they had to keep it?

Yep. The fans pretty much named it, since we had to call the movie something while we all obsessed.

^yeah I read that somewhere and STILL don't know what they're saying by that? do you have any idea as to what Reeves was saying by this "tape him, tape you" deal?. Cause I don't see how this could make a sequel.

Basically what he means is if another guy has his own video camera taking vids of what's going on from their point of view, then that's easily another story from someone else's point of view. So two stories that cross over for that brief two seconds. Kinda cool I guess.

And maybe the OTHER guy taping all this was able to get out of the city and capture more of what happened later...hence, a sequel with different action and maybe a friggin' backstory!!

and MAYBE the other guy was a better camera man so you didn't feel like you were having seizures half way through the movie!

^TOUCHE!. That would be AWSOME!. Do you think that they did this on purpose to setup a NO BRAINER sequel HINT?. I read that Matt Reeves KINDA labeled this creature as a little baby creature in a panic looking for it's mother.....something like that. If this creature somehow got lost from where it's from originally, and it's supposed to be a baby, or YOUNG creature, could you imagine what the grown up version of it would look like?. LOL.

just saw the movie last night, and i liked it alot. i kind of like the fact that it doesnt answer alot of questions, it makes you think and put everything together. i heard cloverfield was the name of a street near the productions company, and jj abrahms intended to call the movie "greyshot" which is a part of central park and i think the bridge in the movie is called greyshot arch. cloverfied was the pre production name and it was spread all over the internet as that name, so he just went with it.
