i have a very ecletic tase in music, but i would have to say i enjoy the new music that is coming out the most. So my vote would have to be fore 00-current.

apparently the 80's. It had its decade, still gets played and people remake more 80's music than anything. Hell just listen to any rap station and i bet you here 25 80's samples with an hour.

eh.. toss up between the 60's and 70's. The sixties had a better idea of music and the seventies had a better knowledge of how to put it all together and make it flow more freely. I think that it will be a very long time before the bar gets raised back to the level of talent that the 70's had.
The 80's (for the most part) was an evolved version of that talent, but then you had the pop scene that just took music 10 steps backwards IMO.
I think that if the music scene had kept in the direction it was in the early 90's that it would have been a landmark decade for music.. but instead the emo sh!t started to form and now we have a musical epidimic of "I'll cut my wrist with the tears of fallen angels and hide in a corner till my mother breast feeds me" crap.

I
Hate
Emo.

That's my thoughts about the generations of choice. sorry for the rant :)

The 80's of course. The era of real power bands. Nothing has compared since.

Most of my school years were in the 80s. I'm going to have to say the 80s followed closely by the 70s. At one time, I would have had that the other way around. I like some 60s stuff as well. For the most part, I think popular music really started going downhill in the 90s.

I would have to go with the 60's and 70's overall. Thats when you had some really great bands: The Dead, The Doors, Jimmy Hendrix, Zepplin, etc, etc.

The 80's however kicked ass for rap and punk, but the pop scene was

70's FTW

Think about this...when you listen to regular radio (not satellite), what generation do you hear the most music from? The 70's. That's because it was built to last. Songs from Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Thin Lizzy, The Eagles, Jimmy Buffet, etc. still sound as good today as they did back then. Keep in mind that these artists have multiple hits as well. For those of you who think the 80's had the best music, I ask you this...what other GREAT song did Flock of Seagulls have? What other hit did A-Ha have? What other hit did Vixen have? You get the point. I don't believe that in 20 years we're still going to be hearing Korn's "A.D.I.D.A.S." on the radio or Fall Out Boy's "Dance Dance". These songs just don't have staying power even if they are popular songs.

Very good point. There really is far too much throw away music, lately, in the 90s, in the 80s.

Personally, I'd have to say the 90s had the most music that I enjoyed. All these albums have had huge staying power with me:

Nirvana - In Utero (1994)
Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works, Vol 2 (1994)
Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92 (1993)
Squarepusher - Big Loada (1998)
Tool - Aenima (1996)
Bjork - Homogenic (1997)
Deftones - White Pony (2000, ok a slight stretch)
Foo Fighters - Foo Fighters (1995)
Jeff Buckley - Grace (1994)
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream (1993)
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1996)
Smashing Pumpkins - Pisces Iscariot (1994)
Matthew Good Band - Underdogs (1998)
Live - Throwing Copper (1994)
Stone Temple Pilots - Tiny Music (1996)
Our Lady Peace - Naveed (1994)
Radiohead - OK Computer (1997)
System of a Down - System of a Down (1998)
Tea Party - The Edges of Twilight (1995)
Tea Party - Transmission (1997)
Portishead - Dummy (1995)
