Calling all civics in the Nebraska area
This may be a long shot but i'm sure their are other people on this forum who live in Nebraska. I've trying to put together a meet or hangout, I've been station in the Nebraska area for 2 years and haven't found much. If anyone is in the NE/IA area and would like to try in get a meet started, let me know. Would love to find other Honda's out here. Thanks!

Probably, I had a hell of a time finding the exact car I wanted when I was looking for the Si, and it seemed that the dealers weren't hanging on to their Si's for too long. I have seen a few on the road, in fact a black one lives in my neighborhood. So either there are more and they don't belong to the forum, or it's you who I've seen driving around.

I'm in Lincoln, work in Omaha. I drive a 4-door galaxy gray metallic '07 Si. I took the day off yesterday (Friday) and went to Fast Fridays at the Mid-America Motorplex in Glenwood, IA. Since it was raining half the day and kinda cold (you must drive the track with your window all the way open), not many people showed up...which was good while driving...however you can't stand around too long talking without freezing to death. And wouldn't you know it, today it's sunny, clear, and calm.
Not sure if you're interested, but I'm planning to take my car there at least twice a month and run it all day. There were about 9 guys including me that showed up yesterday, but no other Civics. One Rx-7, 2 mustangs, 5 BMW's, 1 '08 Evo, and myself. The Evo and myself were the only stock cars out there...and the Evo pretty much lapped everyone each session. AWD really makes a difference in the rain. |

That's a little bit of a drive. My permanent address is actually in Bellevue; however, I'm currently going to school at Iowa State, so I spend most of my time in Ames. I doubt I'll be taking my car to the track, but it would be fun to watch. They still allow people to just come and watch just like at the drag strip right?
On that note: Is that still only and 8th mile track? I heard a rumor a while back that they were going to make it a full 1/4 mile. |

It's not a dragstrip...it's a full road course. 2.43 miles I believe.
I don't believe in buying a sports car if it's never going to be driven that way. Safest way to drive your car fast without being an idiot about it is taking it to the track. Driving a car hard on the street is not only hard(er) on it, it's unsafe for you and everyone else around you. The track is built to allow your car to show off its potential. Streets are built to get you from point a to point b. Now if you have an empty airfield at your disposal, that's another thing altogether... |
