Just arrived to Chicago and got pulled over.....

Ok, I need some input/suggestions on my problem. Here is the story:

Just moved from Florida to the Northwest suburbs about 4 weeks ago. I drove the SI from FL to IL with no problems, it was a great ride!
The windows on the SI are tinted; tint is allowed in FL but not in IL. I got pulled over yesterday morning in Elmhurst and received a written warning from the cop. I knew this was going to happen sooner or later, but it was still kind of a shock.

Anyway, the issue at hand is removing the tint from the SI. I would do it myself, but really don't want to spend the time heating the tint and then peeling it off slowy and then cleaning all the glue off the windows. Besides, I really don't want to scratch the glass either; this would be my first time doing something like this. I just assume pay someone to remove the tint and it be over and done with.

Can anyone suggest/recommend a GOOD place for me to take the SI and have this work done? I don't mind spending some money for this to happen, figure it would be less than a ticket or two!!! I was thinking of taking it to a place that details cars, but not sure of any really good places in town that I could trust. Any input or advise that you may have would be great. Thanks for taking the time to read and reply to my problem!!

Oh yeah, I live in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago and would like to find a place somewhat close to me.

Again, thanks and I look forward to your replies!!!

welcome to IL! i had the same problem with you. I move from GA where the tint is legal as long as its above 30%. Got 22% tints instead. never had a problem when i was in GA. Moved to IL and got pulled over. I got the same fix-it ticket but never got it done. The cops in the burb are bored and have nothing to do. In the city it is a different story where the cops are more laid back. I decided not to get the tint off and ive been driving the same car since then and havent had a problem. I'd say keep it, but if you dont want to get hassled again just get if off. Cant really recommend a place but let me know if you find one. I have another car i want to get tinted. Good luck!

Be carefull if you drive in the city limits!! Depending on where you are I've seen unmarked police cars pull people over and hand them a blade to take their tints off on the spot to avoid a ticket. Now I'm speaking of the driver and passenger sides only, the back you can have as dark as you want. Best of luck
