Good tint shop in Chicago NW Burbs?

I'm wanting to get tint for my 07 FBP Sedan. I am wanting good color overall, and not so much worried about "ceramic" or anything super expensive...

Does anyone have a personal recommendation?

I've heard pretty good things about Umbra in Arlington Heights, but can't remember exactly what that person said.

How much am I looking at ($$$) for all 4 side windows and rear window?

I had my wife's car done down state 5-6 years ago when we lived there and might get a quote from that lady as well. She did good work.

Thanks!

Not exactly NW burbs, but a buddy of mine recommended a place called Erickson Auto Trim in Racine, WI. I got a quote of $180 for my FA5. My buddy knows others who got theirs done there as well and says they're nice people and do great work.

Ray, is that for all 4 windows on the side of just the (legal) back two + rear?

I see so many people in the burbs with illegal tint, I figure the police must not pull over that much for it. Any one else have different experience? Downstate they would pull you over just for that, because they don't have as much to do- but it seems like the only time up here I would get in trouble with it is if I was pulled over for something else and they decided to write a tint ticket as well. Or, if I get a grumpy police man

Yeah that quote is for the back and ALL side windows (even those little triangle ones we have on the 4-doors).

Yeah i see a lot of peeps around here with the front sides tinted. Most cops around here are pretty chill about it, they won't pull you over for JUST the tints. But if they get for something else like speeding or something, they'll throw in the tint citation as well. They also seem to pick on coupes more than sedans. Thats just my personal experience though, i'm sure its different in other areas.

Now I'm trying to decide when to do this (probably when it starts to warm up a bit) and how dark to go. I was thinking about making the fronts a bit lighter than the rears, but Idk. That seems like it would just attract even more attention to the front.

I definitely dont want it TOO dark, but I dont want it too light either

Werd, i'm doing 35% myself, a bit on the lighter side, but i like how it looks.

As for when, id wait till it gets a little warmer, another month er so i guess? All i know is that you can't roll down your windows for a week afterwards...

I should probably get my rear driver's side window fixed before I have it done as well. It makes a squeaking noise and streaks the glass when I roll it down. It's done that since I got it in September.

I took it in for it once (among other things) and they claimed they adjusted it- but it still does it.

Haha, like that custom text on the CD player Ray (avatar).

Try this guy. He does AWESOME work:

Tinting-Glass Tinting for Homes, Auto's, and Buildings - Dave's Glass Tinting

Get the geoshield ceramic.

Plenty of heat rejection, extremely long life, and no radio/GPS/cell phone reception problems.

You can see a great flash animation of an Acura TL on my website with Geoshield 40%:

Hurricane Tint

Oh man, Dave's work looks great. I don't think I can afford the special high end tint. How much would something like that run me on an FA5?
