Thumbs up The August Chicago Meet/cruise Thread

After attending a successful meet on July 8th, I am starting this thread to open a discussion for the next meeting of Chicago based Civic fans. We had a great amount of interest for our last meet and I am glad to have met all of you face to face. I feel if we can all agree on some issues, we could have a blast and have some sick photos of a great cruise/photo shoot…

Here are some topics up for discussion…

1. Meeting place and time- During our last meet, a good number of cars made it all the way to Busse Woods. Unfortunately, the large number of participants showed up over a 5 hour period. Let’s try and pick a set time to meet for a hour and so and then role along a cruise route. I would rather be able to meet all of you instead of seeing a couple or guys and girls come and go through out the day. Some of us will have to work, some will already have plans but a firm time will get everyone on the same page and more cars involved.

2. Food and drink- Let’s start a list for those who WANT to bring some food, drink or snacks. I am not saying it is mandatory for everyone to bake brownies or everyone must “donate” some cash. If you want to bring something, let’s get organized so we have enough stuff. At Busse Woods, Marecki7 was stuck behind his grill because he was the only person to bring food. I brought some beverages as did others. If we organized, I could have brought another grill to help. So… start to think about bringing something IF YOU WANT TO. Organization beats the unknown every time.

3. Cruise and photo shoot location- This is going to be the best and most difficult part of out next meet. I know that a cruise downtown is hard for some of us and gas is not cheap. However, 25+ Si coupes and sedans rolling to a cool location for a photo shoot as the sun is going down would be great. Post your cruise and photo shoot ideas and let’s see what we can come up with. After we pick a spot, I will look into any permits we will need.

4. ANYTHING ELSE- I know I missed a ton of stuff so post or email me at lundtcu@hotmail.com and I will edit this thread. The more input we get, the better the meet/cruise will be.

Thank you for taking some time to read this. Let’s get some ideas floating…

I'd be down for this. I've really been wanting to attend a meet. Somehow the last meet got by me.

I will be on the lookout for some good spots downtown for pictures. It's kind of hard though with a lot of cars.

I'll take some recon photos this weekend. A large parking lot with the skyline in the background would be great!

Also, I am thinking of making a date in late August/September. I would like to get together sooner but the more time we take to plan this, the more time people will be able to get babysitters, request off work and hide from responsibilities for the day. Saturday, August 25th??? Post your suggestions so we can pick a winner!.

Si only ?
what about the R18s. we showed up last time ;p

*Edit. also i think we can try to get the RSXs to show up this time. the only reason they didn't show last time was that they forgot or the fact that it was scorching hot.

I have an R18 and I'll hopefully be there. R18s and K20s can live happily together. :)

Date:I say anywhere between august and october.

though august will be better than later, since some of us will be back in school by september.

sunday seemed like a great day. weekends would be the best show i'd say. but i'm down for any day, just gotta know in advance to request off at work.
everyone should say what their ideal date is.
Time: 12/1 PM to 6/7 PM. Perhaps dinner/hooters afterwards?

Meet Location:Busse Woods ( I second that.) Although the Lake Shore would be a great spot, and you don't need a permit. Somewhere around Wilson or Montrose Harbor has a lot of spots.

Meet Duration: As long as can be.

Cruise Departure: ???

Cruise Route: If we meet at Busse, we should cruise down to the spot I mentioned on the lake.

Photo Shoot Location: Busse, Lakeshore

Participants/Car

2.Reelbigfish241-06FG1
3. NARFALICIOUS - 06 FG1
Food/Drink List
1. Reelbigfish241 - Water/pop
2. VTECnical - grill/hot dogs/water
3. NARFALICIOUS - Foam cooler, ice, drinks, chips, salsa. Extra tripod for anyone with a camera who wants to use it. Football

a great spot, but would be nearly impossible to get a bunch of spots next to each other on a weekend.

I will take photos Satuday around 3-6pm and get a feel for parking... I agree, it is not going to be easy but I think a Civic group pic with the skyline in the back would be sick!

I have to agree. That place is a ZOO on the weekends. Busse woods is also easier to find. Lake Cook is all Under Construction, so i don't know. I'll also probably edn up with another ding in my car. Bah.

I'll bring my non-Digital Camera and Both Color and B&W Film. B&W = The ****, especially in my Nikon Camera.

I commend Marecki7 (sp?) for his cooking ability. Those were awesome Burgers with no Cheese. Sorry you had to sit behind the grill.

I'm all for Busse woods again. Plenty of shade there, maybe we can even get in one of those covered areas.

Put me down as a Probable with:

Slow_Si-06FG2 (Chips/Maybe Dip)

Just gotta clear this with the Parents

On another thought:
I say this time bring non-diet pop, lol.

For those of you too lazy to read all that (like me):

+1 going to Busse Woods
Probable +Self:Slow_Si-06FG2 (Chips/Maybe Dip)
+1 @ Non-Diet Pop

Hmmmmmmmm,

It didn't take me long to come up with the answer to this one.

Hell yeah Im in.

As usual you can count me in for the grill and stuff. Im sorry, but I realized that I had some fresh lettuce(from my moms garden--very tasty) and tomatos in my fridge, which I failed to bring to the meet.

Can you forgive me, I am so ashamed of my actions. LOL

Like I said in the previous thread, Busse Woods location is fine for me.

The date, sooner the better.

I'd most definitely go if the date was earlier in august. I have to go back to school on the 19th. If the date moves up, count me in. As is, I'm a maybe. -07 FJB FG2

I agree. we had a mini ClubCivic.com meet there back in 2004 on a saturday. 6 cars total, woohoo! Cool location, just not too practical for a car meet 8thCivic.com-sized... notable suggestion tho!

i'm in for whatever as long as it's on a weekend, but if it's between july 22 - aug 11, i'll be out of the country.
Anything close to major highway works well. Busse Woods was cool, sorry we were late. Won't happen next time.

Hey, I don't want anybody feeling sorry for me for grilling---->it was fun, and I enjoy cooking, and thats what I will be doing on the next meet no questions asked.
