Question Anyone Up for an SCCA Auto-X Event up at OSU on 06/17 or 07/01

Hey this past weekend I went up to cooper stadium were the Local SCCA was having a Autocross points event. It was a nice course were you got to really test your driving skills and your cars limits. There were a lot of C5 & C6’s, STI’s and S2K’s. But There was only one 8 Gen FA5 there. I thought it would be a good ideal to go to the next event and represent properly. For non SCCA members its like only $35 to race for the day. The next event is on 06/17 at the OSU Ackerman Lot. The only thing you will need to basically is a helmet. Depending on how your car is modified will determine what class you run in. If you have any questions, Jus hit me up.

Here’s a link to the event I went to this past weekend - http://richard.safier.com/OVR/May%2027%20PE3/index.html

Ah.....Come, oh. First of all If i can take a Turbo Saab & a WRX STi in my bone stock Si, i know the Si's have enough to hang with the big dawgs. It's not just the car is the driver. Also The way SCCA works is that depending on what kind of car you have and what you've done to it you'll be put into classes so that a miata isn't running against a C6. During the last event a 07 Civic Si placed 3rd in its class, ahead of a Mini cooper S & Saab 93t.

So whats the use in getting a Si if you not going to see what it and you can really do.

It won't eat your tires like drifting but will run hard on them, but its not going to severally wear you tires. Your class would be HS so you'd be running against cars like mini coopers, ford focuses & Mazda3 Etc, etc. Here is a link for the novice guide for the Ohio Vally SCCA. http://www.ovr-scca.org/_ovrclub/nov...utocross.asp#4

The only thing you really need to Bring is a Snell DOT approved helmet. Tape so you can number you car and some other little things. Check out the novice guide to see everything you'd needed.

DLB Racing is the site to go to so you can pre-register for any of the events. This weekend is a driving school on saturday, and a Auto-x even this Sunday. For non-SCCA members the cost is $30 for the event. Let me know if you need any more info. Also see if you can get anyone else to join the cause.

Well I'm all signed and set for tomorrow . I'm running in the GS class. I'll be going against another 8th gen civic si. I'll get some pics up when i can. Anyone who still wants to go. They have 30 spots for walkins tomorrow morning. I'll be there @7ish. I also got a sweet deal on a helmet. they were on closeout for $20 @ Iron pony

This is the link for whom i'll be racing against tomorrow.

Wow!,
A very humbling experience. There were 137 cars that raced including several C5 Z06s, Subie STis & S2Ks. I placed 7th in my class(G Stock), and 130th overall. the other FA5 Si placed 3rd in our class. I did better that what i had planned on. I didn't hit any cones and i matched the paced time for the course. There were a lot of cool people there too who knew a lot about racing and setting up your car. I rhode with someone during the first heat so i could learn the course and see how it supposed to be run. I rode in a 04 Civic Si hatch. Dude was fast. I know now that tire pressure is very important because i had my to low and had a lot of under steer. I'm going to the next one going to be prepared.
And anyone who was not sure about running their car. I beat out a BMW 6 series, and Chrysler HEMI 300. Everything is setup so you can stay competitive no matter who your car is setup. I ran totally stock with A/S tires and still did well for my first time. If anyone has questions about it let me know. The next event is going to be at the same place on July, 1st. We need to get more than just two 8th Gen's up there.

If you want you all want to try something else. There are a couple of events at Mid-Ohio. Where we could get on a real road course.

NASA will be at mid-ohio again 8/17-19.

The Ohio Valley Region of the SCCA will be there on 9/8-9

The Cincinnati Region of the SCCA will be there on 8/10-12
