I think for most of us that are middle to high middle class, the Mugen Si would be a very bad investment for no other fact than that this car, regardless of where you live, is never going to be safe beign parked anywhere except a locked garage with no windows and secuirtiy cameras. Any other place and expect it to be stripped in a matter of minutes.

You got that right Mike. I would be a nervous wreck if I had one. Talk about thief bait. I'd be paranoid parking it anywhere, always fretting over whether someone was going to steal something off the car.

They remind me somewhat of the Indy pace car Corvettes back in 1978. People bought them for investment purposes and kept the plastic on the seats and carpets. They also kept them under lock and key because of being as special as they were.

Me too Moe. I would never park my Si outside. It is the kind of car that seems to attract undesirable people. If I had the Mugen, I would be terrified to drive it anywhere and leave it parked alone.

I did have a scary experience parking my Si outside that prompted me getting an indoor parking permit.

I recently moved into a nice apartment complex on the West Bank of campus (due to the location to the U of M campus). There is a heavy Somalian population where I live, and apparently a group of young Somalian gang boys in the neighborhood, who like to break into cars and steal things.

I parked out back (I could see my car from my window) and when my mom and I went out the next morning, the Jetta parked next to me had his window smashed in with a spraypaitn can, and every compartment in the car was open.

My car, however, which was much nicer, cleaner, and everything, didn't have a scratch on it.

This could be due to the fact that I always lock my car and NEVER leave ANYTHING (I mean ANYTHING) open in the interior, but needless to say I moved into the garage the same day.

Good to hear your gorgeous FBP FG2 is under wraps. There are lots of miscreants out there who would love nothing better than to damage someone's car. We don't need your Si as another statistic with the police department.

Yeah bro, I'm the same way though. I always park far away, to keep from door dings. I'm also always thinking the worst case sinario for my car...and if I have to put it in a undesirable situation, where the best possible parking spot would be... I.E. under street lights, camera...bla bla. I just love my car, and so far, I haven't had a problem. "Knock on wood" I'm always paranoid of haters, Cuz they just wanna Sh!t on your ride, no matter what.

I got my door ding repaired. It being one of the first things pointed out on my car when I rolled up last Sunday. I had a free paintless dent repair coupon at Hopkins, so I went and got it fixed. Took the guy 30 seconds. All I could think was, "I hope this is it for dings". yeah right....

Scott, people give me crap all the time because I park so far away, but I am just paranoid about door dings. What really fries my behind is when I park waaaay away from everyone and some a$$hat parks right next to me even though there is an empty parking lot for them to park in. Persistent vigilance is important in protecting your car. My G35 is ding free because I always park far away whether at work or when shopping.

BTW Scott, your car looked sooooooo hot. That black paint looked so deep and had so much gloss to it. Rasky really did a great job. I have always loved your car and think that it embodies the performance and style of the Si.

Sheesh, I thought I was crazy for doing the same thing. I always park alone or by Beamer or something expensive. Even worse is when I circle my car before I get in to leave in order to make sure that there are no dings. My gf thinks I'm paranoid...truth be told I thought I was too but I suppose it runs in the brother(sister)hood of Honda lovers. lol

That's cool. Nice to have a pdr coupon. I got one from Burnsville too Oh, and sorry to point it out. I didn't mean to make you feel bad.

It's cool, I was in denial that it was a problem. I thought I was hiding it. It looked bad.

Jon, how would you rate Hopkins Honda for the dent repair? I have the same coupon you mentioned and was wondering if you felt they did a good job of removing the dent.

Well, because you asked...The dent repair guy was great, we chatted about my car for a bit (he has a Charger r/t and wants to downsize). He did a great job and was a contractor, not a Hopkins Honda employee.

On the other hand, I had to set up an appointment via Hopkins Honda service. When I pulled in, they were rude as usual, didn't understand why I had an appointment and generally seemed pissed that I was there. I cannot stand the Hopkins Honda Service advisors. They are some of the rudest, bitterest, angriest people in town. They suck and I try to avoid them.

Thanks Jon. Yeah, I know they can be cantankerous. When we wanted to get our HFP front lip installed, they first tried to have us go to the body shop. Then the body shop said that the mechanics were supposed to install the kit. The technicians ended up installing the lip, but it was a profusion of confusion.

The douchebag that works there (who is really rude) is Jeff Jacobson. I remembered his name after having to think about it for a few days.

The reason they shot you back and forth is because they have absolutely no communication with each other. It's like trying to communicate to Mars.

Right you are Mike. It is amazing how this dealership can be so screwed up. I bought my G35 from Luther Infiniti and they have been ultra-professional from the get go. I have always had superb service from them and have always had great communication with them as well.

I suppose because of the size of Hopkins Honda, they haven't adequately trained people to improve customer service. I think they just sell them as fast as they can and worry about the customers later.
