Kansas City SI owners...reflash problems?

Have any of you tried to get the reflash done at Honda? I tried today but because my VIN wasn't within the range Honda stated, they said they're not allowed to do it. Then the manager went on about how it'll get less and less over time blah blah blah. Tried explaining drive by wire blah blah blah... So I just said, "So when I realize a problem with my car and see there's a recall for that exact thing, I can't get it fixed?" He almost looked stumped on how to say "Sorry..." Have any of you guys locally got the reflash even though your VIN isn't in the range?

What dealership did you go to to try to get it done?

Mine has gotten worse and worse over time. Car has almost 11,000 miles on it now and it's starting to do it even when the motor is warmed up (the bucking, that is).

I plan on taking mine to Frank Ancona Honda this week when I have a day off to have it done. My car does fall within the VIN range, I'm just afraid they're going to say they did it and not do it.

The problem is that there is so a huge difference in opinion on whether or not the reflash does anything. Some say it's night and day, some say it didn't do a single thing. Kind of frustrating to say the least. I think a lot of these owners don't even know anything about cars, so they don't respond with an honest response. Doesn't make things easy for those who need to know.

I went to O'Neill seeing that's who I got the car from. I'm thinking of calling Independence (Tim Herron) or Frank Ancona.

Tim is a good guy. I honestly think I might take it to him since I trust him.

I've never met him but I've heard nothing but amazing things about him on S2ki.com. I'll call 'em tomorrow. I'm just pissed that the place I dumped my money to said they won't help me. F-ers.

I used to autocross with him before I stopped doing it. I also know him through Dale at Forward Thrust. Both really good guys.

Tim'll drive the wheels off of anything you put him in. That's for sure.

I know Dale from FT. Well I've met him a couple times through a mutual friend (who I have now lost contact with). Yeah he's a good guy and I hear he knows Hondata pretty well (and some other partner in FT).

Tim and Dale are very good at Hondata, and are who I plan to go through when I decide to go that route.

Well, now I'm gonna try Frank Ancona this monday. We'll see if they will do anything about it. If not, I'll try Independence. If still nothing, I'm contacting Corporate with a major complaint.

About the only thing I recommend is let the car sit there overnight and come in the next morning and have them drive it when the engine is cold. They'll see it is doing it, and then you can pass it off as a defect.

Until then, they are going to be jackass service managers just about anywhere you go I'm sure.

I just had the reflash done at Frank Ancona Honda. I explained to them what the problem was, and brought a copy of the TSB with me to show them. He thanked me for knowing what the problem was, how to fix it, and 30 minutes later I had my car back and reflashed.

It's a great improvement over what it used to be like. There is still a slight hang, but it's not NEARLY as bad as what it was. There is a definite improvement. Those who say there isn't I think just didn't have the reflash done.

They said they hooked up the unit to my diagnostic port and it immediatly said an update was available for my car. They updated it, and wha-lah all is well now!
