UPDATE! "Just love your car" 8thgen meet at Rasky's

June 21st is approaching quickly and I need a final row call on who plans on attending. I need to get an idea of how much food and drink to purchase as well as table and chair rentals.

Here is the updated plan and what I have as of today for attendees...




So this idea was actually inspired by all the Zaino talk on the forum.


So here is the plan; any other ideas are welcome and will be added to the list of events if approved.
Tentative date and time: June 21, 2008 from 11:00 A.M. till whenever
-BBQ burgers and brats, chips
-Soda/water
-Open discussion on detailing questions and requested demonstrations
-Flex polisher, PC and/or Rotary demo
-Show how to remove swirls using M83, M80, and or M09
-Event Highlight:
Wax comparison! (Bring your favorite wax if you wish....though I have a LOT of them)
We will tape off 6-8 sections of a recently polished black hood and compare the results. Each section brand/wax will only be known by me and 1-2 others
-It would be nice for someone to bring a high end still or video camera so we can post pics and results.
-I’m close to a high school for a photo shoot and we could zip up Hwy 101 for a cruise later.

I will have a beat up old black car which is in need of serious help. Anyone who wants to try out either of the 3 polishers can do so. The interior is very dirty too so I can show how to clean any area you may want to see. I'm sure the owner of the car would like to see it all buffed out by the end of the day so please don't be afraid to try out any of the polishers. I will give a demo on all of them before hand.


I'd like to keep this for 8thgen members only but feel free to bring your lady friends.

Out of state members welcome or (cough cough), Canada.

I'm going to be helping my brother in law replace the siding on his house. He is in Monticello and got nailed in that hail storm last week.

Update on the wax comparison test. I plan to have my g/f (wife) apply and remove all of the waxes. She has never waxed a car before so it will be an unbiased opinion of how easy each is to use as well as anything else she may note about them.

I plan to have the hood outside with each section waxed so when you come in you can vote on which section you think looks best. There will also be a "too close to call" vote, which I think may be the case since the hood will be fully preped by me to be free of swirls. Later in the day we will tally up the votes and reveal which wax was used in which area.




Bill, any chance I can get some waxes and sealants you want tested by Friday night...unless of course you and Josh want to come early.

I have:

Meguiars NXT 2.0, #21, #26, Gold Class, DC3, P21S, Some 3M stuff, Eagle One Nano, Black Magic, Paint sealant from Detail King, I think have some old Zaino but no bottles to mix in or ZXF...
