If you guys like the idea but prefer a better shape, like a more horizontal decal, I can redo it in whatever shape or form based on the preference of the majority.

EDIT:

I made another variation:

I think this one is a major improvement from the first example, however the first example can still be used as a smaller decal for different smaller areas on the car. I would probably have to get rid of the crab's tiny little leg hairs since they would probably not cut out right. Anyways I think this decal looks pretty aggressive - an aggressive crab lol.

Let me know what you guys think.
if you want that, gotta lose the hairs...they will never cut right or stick correctly.

The more simple, the cheaper they will be as well.

I'm working on getting rid of the hairs, and I'm thickening the lines for a clearer cut along with other minor adjustments.

Honestly I'd rather have the crab than a Ferrari horse with a knight on it with a lance, that's kind of dorky if you ask me. And as far as an outline of the state of Maryland...the state is funny shaped with lots of jagged borders, especially along the Chesapeake Bay part - I don't know how that would work out when it comes to the cutting. Might have to make an outline of MD that's less detailed if you want to use it.

Well here are the new proto-types - removed the little hairs, thickened the lines, removed the tach gauge above the 8thcivic.com and gave the 2nd version more aggressive crab eyes:

The problem with the outline of MD is the shape of it, kind of hard to work with. Too bad we can't fit any letters inside of the state outline nicely. Here's a rough attempt at using the state outline:

Kinda sucks, maybe it would be better with better placement of the words around the outline.

Honestly I'd rather use the crab, it looks clean and it makes sense too - but whatever the majority prefers I guess - I'm just contributing.

found some interesting facts on MD.......

*The Baltimore Oriole has been the State Bird since 1947

*In 1989 the Maryland Blue Crab was designated the State Crustacean

*In 1964, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, named after the famous bay region of the breed's origin, was declared the official dog of Maryland. A working dog bred to recover waterfowl for hunters, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever is one of only a few breeds actually developed in the United States. Retrievers excel in field and obedience trials. These dogs are known for their versatility, strength, endurance, and devotion.

*The Black Eyed Susan has been the official Maryland flower since 1918. A yellow daisy or cornflower, it blooms in late summer

*The Baltimore Checkerspot Butterfly was designated Maryland's State Insect in 1973.

*Maryland's State Tree is the White Oak.

*Got Milk? Milk officially became the State drink on October 1, 1998.

*The Diamondback Terrapin ( Malaclemys terrapin ) is the State reptile and official mascot of the University of Maryland College Park

*On October 1, 2001 the Calico cat was chosen as Maryland's State Cat because of the colors. They are the colors of Maryland's flag and founding families--red, black and white

*The rockfish (Morone saxatilis) was named the official fish of the State of Maryland in 1965

*On October 1, 2003, the Thoroughbred Horse became the State Horse of Maryland

*In 1962, a law was enacted making jousting our State sport

*In 2004, Lacrosse was officially named the Team Sport of Maryland.

From everything you listed I feel that the best candidates are still the crab and state outline.

The oriole and dog seem kind of lame...I mean a decal of a bird? No thanks, and a dog wouldn't really look right either...we'd all look like PETA hippies with the dog decal. UMBC also uses the retriever as their mascot.

Flower, butterfly, a tree, milk, cat, rockfish...Hell to the no lol

The terrapin would be cool, especially since I go to UMD, but the only problem I'd have with that is it wouldn't be original. Also I wouldn't appreciate things people might say, like "is it because your car is slow as a turtle?" and other slow turtle jokes we might get from people who are ignorant of what it represents.

The horse ideas, I don't feel it mostly because I associate the image of horses with domestics like Ford Mustangs, I just feel it's too domestic to put on a Honda.

As for jousting and lacrosse - I neither play those sports nor do I care for them. The jousting would look nerdy, and I never played lacrosse so it wouldn't make sense on my car...

Just my opinions. But if anyone can make a sweet and convincing decal using those options then that'd be cool to see.

Ehhh agreed I would have to say never really got into the whole lacross thing really made me want to go play hacky sac in the quad or something But the thing is I think we are missing the point... what best represents MD and what would be Unique i guess the word is to the MD crew. I guess I have to look at every one else's emblem but i mean for god sakes one crew has a stick on decal from pep boys... the dragon thing... as their crew emblem now I am not saying we should do that but I think simplicity is the key here. I think we should go for something that sticks out but is not obnoxious to have on the side of the car or people are like... do i have to put that thing on the side of the car? To tell you the truth every one has great ideas now if we can just come together and put them together some how is the way we can really finish up on this thing. I mean we should have constructive criticisms with everyone's input but tearing the person down for it is not needed. Can we have some one type something up of the ideas put into this thing? I mean I think in away we are making this more complicated than it really is
/Rant lol

My Vote is for this one

Its simple. To the point. No other state can say they are known for crabs both in inner city Baltimore prostitutes and in the Chesapeake bay. I would not mind having this on my car.

Well, I'm going to try to work on a cleaner and better laid out Maryland state decal later. If anyone likes the crab idea but has any style or lay out suggestions just PM me.

I'll also try to come up with some prototypes that don't try to play on any Maryland themes - keeping it simple like civicconver06 said.
