I'm certainly not in favor of paying more than I have to for a fine but I must admit it has slowed me down considerably. If you read the fines, it's really not for just speeding. It has to be reckless driving related. In other words a ticket for going 10mph over is not going to change but 20 over and being charged with reckless is where the civil penalties come into play. Sorry folks but I personally agree with the extra fees for dui, eluding police, etc.

agreed but if its only applies to va residents i dont think so. you've got plenty of people from the surrounding states that travel in and out of va.

My Si is way more car than I ever needed - I drive the speed limit in the right lane and use my turn signal. But wrong is wrong -- this stupid law needs to be burned along with that useless lawyer rep that thought it up!!!

yea, I was thinking the same thing and couldn't agree more. Especially on 95 but because it's a "civil fee" it has been upheld by the supreme court and believe it or not there are plenty other states that have the same thing.
