When he put his foot to the floor the ECU (atleast with most cars I know of) shuts off the fuel supply to the motor while cranking and the residual fuel ignited probably into the intake.

from how you explained your accident i knew there was no way yours was going to be anywhere close to how bad mine was.. i didnt think mine was bad either until they told me the total of $8600.. i just about shat a brick..

im happy for you that you got your car back within 2 weeks.. my place told me 2 weeks first.. then that became 2 months..
