You're breaking the law as soon as your odometer stops recording mileage? What exactly are you supposed to do about that? I was suggesting recording the mileage on your own for personal reasons when the car could not. I was not suggesting tampering or altering anything on the car... What law exactly are you breaking by hitting 1 million miles?

deltatechx, you stated that you still have the original coil packs installed. Replace them and you will see a significant improvement in your MPG. A healthy ignition system is crucial in order to achieve optimum combustion in the chambers. Also, consider running a can of Seafoam through the engine to clean out any carbon build up. You should buy a box load of the coils at cost price so you can replace them every 60,000 miles as needed.
