Console clips keep popping off?!?!?!

So i've taken off my shifter bezel twice in the past two days and every time I take it off atleast 2 of the metal retaining clips pop off into oblivion! I've always read this is supposed to be an easy task and have never read about the clips popping off...wtf am i doing wrong? All I do is lift from the inside of the trim piece and pull up. Since those popped off, I was forced to pull up the entire front console piece, which in turn led to one of those clips falling off as well. The first time I had to look for 3 of those damn clips and after about 20 minutes and a flexible magnet I recovered them all. Now I had to pull it off yesterday and the same thing happened, but now this time I could only find two of them. Now I am going to have to rip the entire console apart just to find one clip. Is there some trick I am missing here?

That happened to me too, but I gave up searching in that endless pit. If you're car is still under warranty, goto the service dept and order 4 new ones... Then just don't fcck w/ it anymore or glue those suckers in.

Good idea...I think once i retrieve the lost one I will just superglue the shit out of them
