Transmission whine from R18

Hey guys, I just bought a 2008 EX coupe 5-speed last week and ever since i got it there has been a whining sound coming from 1-3 gears when i shift. Now i've read previous posts about some of the Si's having this issue in their differentials but i obviously don't have one but have the same issue. I'm going to bring it in on my first oil change but i wanted to be assured that it wasn't serious. I've owned several 5-speed cars including my most previous 1.8T jetta and it never whined in between gears. I've searched other posts but have yet to come upon any R18 owners that have the same issue, it all seems to be Si guys.
