Oil leak...

alright guys so i found out oil was leaking from my car last thursday. so on friday i took it to school to look at where its leaking. it looks like its leaking from the filter. i tried to retighten the filter but it doesn't seem to be lose.i wanted to get oil and oil filter to change the current one to see if it fix the problem but my teacher told me to hold on until monday. so i went and got a quart of amsoil after school to add it in. today sunday, i went to work and my oil light came on...i was like what the f... luckly i was in a parking lot so i turn off my engine immediatly. i was also lucky cause i went and got some oil this morning, for school tomorrow, in my trunk. so i add some in and when i came home i checked the stick and theres barely any oil on the stick maybe a little bit on the bottom of the stick.

i know that there can't be 2 gaskets on there because i check all the gaskets on my old filters before i put new ones in. and i changed the oil myself since i got the car and nothig like this ever happen. btw car is now 11,xxx miles.

have this happen to anyone?

i just can't wait to put in the new oil and filter to see if its the filter or not.
hopefully everything goes well tomorrow

check and see if you over tighten it by chance. if not then i would just change the oil like you stated. if that doesnt fix the problem, then u have a serious problem. keep us updated, im curious now lol

Sounds like a problem with the filter gasket. Put a new filter on and you should be fine. I've had a defective filter do this to me a couple times in the past.

ok so yesterday i put in the new filter and oil and it seems to be okay for now. i guess i'll give it a couple days to see if it leaks anymore.

Did you have your oil changed at a garage or a dealer? If so, take it to them and they should give you a free oil change if they ****** it up.
