Transmission woes.... not SI

So in my 2006 EX Coupe.... I have been having a lot of trouble with the transmission. It feels stiff and clunky all the way around (with synthetic fluid), but also.... sometimes it refuses to go into first gear from a dead stop and I have to slip the clutch with a minimal amount of gas to slide it in.

the clutch doesnt feel wonderful but it grabs ok.... theres never a delay in revs or movement, so i'm not sure what the deal is?

Any ideas guys?

I have the same problem with my first gear too. I found out that if you park on a incline/decline while leaving the car in gear it adds stress to the transmission (the teeth) and therefore making it difficult to get in. This is just from what Iv read so if anyone with more info please chime in.

Yeah I know...answer these questions for me:

When you parked at home, is your driveway on an incline/decline?
When parked do you leave the car in gear?

Like previously stated, when leaving the car in gear while parked and the car is on a slight incline/decline it adds stress to the transmission making it difficult to engage the gear (in your case 1st).

All you need to do is leave the e-brake engaged. Now I dont know how to fix this yet, but doing this will keep it from occurring.

i never leave my car in gear incline or not. i just use Ebrake and turn the wheel in. i know it not that safe but oh well, i have engine start, and i was dump enough to start it in gear once while parking it on the hill. So the car roll down (man i was about to crap myself if it hit someone else car) so never again.

you can leave it in gear

i always leave my car in gear when parked (and have never had transmission issues), but unlike some people i dont JUST leave it in gear (personally i think thats just dumb). if you want to leave it in gear for that extra security but dont want to worry about your tranny do what I do: park, apply the emergency brake and then take your foot off the brake while in neutral. this will ensure that all the pressure goes to your rear (emergency) brakes. from there, shut the engine off and place it in gear, it should slide right in. you're not putting any pressure on the transmission but it will still offer a fallback if for whatever reason your emergency brake fails.
