Changing from Honda MTF to Amsoil + Oil question

Why don't you guys flush the whole system before putting in full synthetic? I don't mean a drain-n-fill, I mean a honda/acura complete flush? Also, do you guys really listen to the oil life %? I always do 3k oil changes and with the QS synthetic blend + filter acura gives me for 10 bucks I still like to stick around 3-4k. Let me know how accurate that gauge is =P.

1) I can't answer. I haven't change my MTF.

2) I semi listen to the oil life. It is based on how you drive the car. So if the oil life is going by too fast, that is telling me that I need to tone down my driving. But of course I don't even drive hard. My goal is usually try to get to 5k around 40-50%.

3) I do oil changes just about every 5-6k with mobil 1 Synthetic + mobil 1 filter. They have a deal right now. Buy mobil 1 synthetic and get free mobil 1 filter.

Mobil 1 Ext. Performance + Mobil 1 filter $27 (Advance Auto) - SlickDeals.net Forums

I won't argue with synthetic blend + OEM filter since you do 3k oil changes. Plus 10 bucks for synthetic blend and OEM filter sounds good. Some people question the quality of OEM filter. I seen threads where they open it and I see two different results. It either comes out like cheap $3 fram filters and some other cases it comes out pretty close to mobil 1 filter. But since your doing 3k oil changes, even a cheap filter would be good enough.

yeah I read on how the thing works by driving style in conjunction with the ECU to make a %. I've personally cut up a OEM filter and they are great . At that price being done at an acura dealership, in-n-out in 30 minutes = win for me I think.

Here is my $0.02. I do follow the maintenance minder system. I feel that if Honda is recommending the use of the system why not follow it. I don't think Honda would purposely tell you to wait until you wreck the engine before changing the oil. Now I have an R18 and don't race or anything that might change things if you race.
