Engine limiting on hard turns?

I was turning pretty hard with it floored at 6k today, and my car seemed to limit itself like a rapid fuel cutoff... is that the LSD or VSA working, or should I get that looked at?

mine has done the same thing a few times . . . i wondered if it got oilstarved and disengaged vtec. . . whatever it was vtec deffinatly quit till i was out of the turn

If wheelspin is detected VSA will automatically let off the throttle and gradually reapply power, so it feels like you are partially letting off the gas.

It's fairly hard to describe. I'm familiar with how VSA kicks in (the gradual reapplication of power like you mentioned), and whatever it's doing is a lot more aggressive. Due to the way this one turn is engineered, I can take it very fast and sharp, and that's when I get the sound.

Can enough inertia make it so certain components of the engine not get enough oil like the poster above suggested?

I would bet it is the VSA, why don't you try turning VSA off before you take the turn next time and see if that is what it is. Mine does this too sometimes, it almost feels jumpy and it is the VSA.

nope your trippin at those engine speeds no. I have a 06 dont got none of that vsa stuff and never experinced that stuff and Iv took turns really hard and fast before.

Most deffinitly VSA, But the K20' oil pump is prone to starving the engine of oil at high G'. I highly doubt this is the case. I'm not a fan of VSA, that's why I have an 06.

Yeah the VSA is also a traction controller I always turn it of everytime I want to take a hard turn and feel the limited slip differential working, feels really good.

Your VSA light should come on when it activates. That warns you when it occurs.

VSA does not just "let off the throttle". Paired with EBD (electronic brake distribution), during understeer, VSA applies the brakes on the inner front wheel to force the car back in line. Thats why you feel as if the power has been cut, in reality, the it's the brakes that gives you the slowdown feeling.

Personally, at first I found VSA only slightly intrusive. 5000 miles later, I hate it and turn it off as soon as I start the motor.

I wish there was a way to make the VSA always off unless you hit the button. It's not bad in the rain sometimes but it's mostly annoying and causes the car to do things I don't expect. Oh well, just one button to push fortunately =)

Yeah it's a pretty smart system.

I didn't mind it most of the time in my car, but when I knew I was going to take a turn and want to gas it or pull out into a busy road I'd turn it off.

I feel the same way. On one side I'm happy that I am able to completely turn it of (AHEM Lexus, Mercedes, and some BMWs). On the other side, I wish it wasn't there all together. I believe a law recently passed mandating some form of traction control system on all cars manufactured after some date. So maybe the latter side is too much to ask for....

in all of my instances there was NO breaking what so ever. . . and my vsa light did not come on . . . i am familiar with vsa and it was not vsa at all. . . vsa and ebd are rapidly gradual this was instantanious cutout of vtec without a drop in rpms and i had no wheelsping or squeeling of tires at all

If your VSA light did not come on... then it did not activate... try going faster?

haha try going faster... It didnt let me accelerate at all I was vtecin in the corner and then got to the apex and BAM vtec just cuts out I didnt acceleratebut I didnt loose rpms it was still Erving but not in vtec
