honda oil filter

Are the OEM HONDA oil filters from a 1999 civic EX the same for a 2006 civic SI?

A few ppl told me they are. I checked online, and it looks to be the same

but i wanted to get some more assurance.

the 2.0L DOHC is bigger than the old 1.6 single cam vtec

my SI has 33K miles, whats a good oil I change it with?

thanks

Honestly, I don't know.

@ 33K miles I recommend u going full synthetic...with mobile m1 110 oil filter.... best thing for ur car.

I have 33k miles myself...actually a bit more ......synthetic oils give u that little mental edge.

easiest way for you to find out would be to find out what filters cross reference from both cars. I'm about to go to bed, but if no one has an answer, I can tell you that the current Si uses the Mobil 1 M1-110 and K&N HP-1010. are either one of these compatible with the 1999 EX? It actually wouldn't surprise me if they use about the same filter, the oil pan is probably a similar size and this allows honda to make less parts.

the current CR-V uses the same filter as the current Si.

from this website:
My 1999 Honda Civic EX Coupe

My First Oil Change

mileage = 78092

I did my first oil change and put some Mobil 1 Synthetic oil in the car. The biggest problem I had was removing the oil filter. An adjustable wrench that looks like a claw couldn't get the filter off, so I wouldn't recommend it. There isn't much room underneath the car, so I don't know what oil filter wrench works besides the cap style.

Apparently the filter I got from Honda is made by Fram. Everything I've read says Fram should be avoided at all costs.

Here are some notes about oil filters for 99 Honda Civics.

Oil Filters
Amsoil EAO020 $ 15.30 from official site, shipping not included
WIX 51334 $ 7.90 from amsoil, shipping not included
NAPA Gold FIL1334 $ 6.79 3.252",82.6 mm OD from official site, shipping not included
Mobil1 M1-104 $ 9.88 3.12" outer diameter (OD), advanced auto parts
PureOne PL14459 $ 5.88 from advance auto parts
Honda 15400-PLM-A02 (Fram) $ 8.99 Honda Dealership
