My Wipers Hit Each Other Slightly When Wiping...

Any of you have problems with your wipers hitting each other? I have an 08 Si Coupe and when I have the wiper on, they nick each other slightly.

The wipers operate wiping outwards towards the outside of the windshield... on the return back down, that is when they hit.

Anyone else do this? easy fix??

Thank you!

if I could start to tell you what I have been thru with my Si Coupe and the problems it has had in the first 3 weeks of ownership...

Taking it back in on Tuesday for a Honda Corporate Engineer to come and fix my original creak/rattle problem... I'll add this to the list of problems to be fixed.

How did you get a Honda mechanic to come out for a rattle? Every civic on this site is full of rattles.

Make a long story short...

This will be the 5th time I am bringing back my Si for the front creak/rear rattle. I sent a typed letter and faxed one as well to American Honda Corporate and Patrick Garcia of American Honda Corporate Customer Service has been following -up.

After the 3rd time I brought my Si in to fix, they claimed they fixed it. I told them they didn't and they requested I come with their technician on a road test to identify the source of where the creak/rattle was. The second I pulled out of the parking lot, there it was!

He was absolutely dumbfounded and the service manager Tony knew how frustrated I was, so he did not want to mess with my Si anymore and contacted Patrick and Patrick is now sending out a corporate engineer.

Dropping my Si off Tuesday morning so it will be there when the engineer gets there Wednesday morning.

Good thing is, American Honda is providing me with alternate transportation for the time being since I b*tched the couple other times that it's taking up my time, plus a PITA to have no transportation when my SI was in for service previously.

We'll see what happens...

Update on my wipers... it hits each other the first couple of times during the first 5 or 6 wipes. Then after that, they do not hit. Then when I shut-off the wiper and let it sit for about 10 minutes and turn them on... they hit again.

Also, when there isn't much liquid (rain or washer fluid) on my windshield, they will slightly tap each other.

Easy fix, loosen the nuts that hold them down, move your wipers to desired location, tighten it back up. Presto!

I've had this happen, it's an easy fix. Honda should be able to do this in less than 5 minutes.

DCH Academy, not DCH Kay

I know DCH Kay is closer to us, but the General Manager used to work for the same company I work for (Ray Catena MERCEDES-BENZ / smart car) and I'm friends with him so needless to say I get preferred treatment and deals

I had this happen to me when I took the wipers off once. There is one nut at the end of each wiper that holds it on. Loosen the nut and move the bottom- most wiper down slightly.

The majority of the DCH Honda's are pretty good. Most of them are President's Award Winners.

PROBLEMS THAT NEED TO BE ADDRESSED:

1.) Front Passenger Dash Creak
• See Description Below

2.) Sunroof / Ceiling Creak (In conjunction with the Front Passenger Dash Creak)
• Sounds if somebody is sitting on the roof and dash causing the plastic trim on the dash and all areas around the sunroof to creak every time I drive over uneven road levels and minor bumps at low speeds (I usually hear it when “crawling in traffic”). At moderate to high speeds, road noise will mute out the creak. Attempt to duplicate while decelerating in Neutral to decrease engine noise. I also hear it every morning when reversing out of my driveway, where there is an incline.

3.) Rear Passenger Windshield Rattle
• Slight rattle when driving over bumps almost if Rear Windshield is loose.

4.) Windshield Wipers Hit Each Other On Return Down
• Happens in the morning. When pushing stalk up for a “quick wipe”, it will slightly hit at times. Also, it will hit when wipers are on the highest wipe level at times. More prevalent when it is not raining since there is not much lubrication from the rain.

5.) Gear Shifting A Bit “Notchy”
• “Notchiness” feel that result in a minor grind at times. I have supplied two (2) bottles of Amsoil Synchromesh MTF Fluid, which should fix the problem. Meets & exceeds Honda MTF Fluid so it should never void warranty. Approximately an inch remaining from the 2nd bottle should be left when adding both bottles of the Amsoil Synchromesh MTF Fluid.

6.) RPM Hang After Shifts / Bucking In 1st Gear
• TSB 06-052. My VIN # does not fall in range, but was told dealers had ECU reflash available for improvement of symptoms. Even for VIN #’s that do not fall in range.
