Radio questions - XM and radio ID
I have the non-nav stereo with the XM/CD etc. I know that here in Alaska, I cannot get XM, but when I press the "XM" button, shouldn't the radio do something anyway such as saying "No signal"? Nothing happens when "XM" is pressed. Does something else need to be installed? Also, how do you bring up the radio ID? It says to turn the "tune" knob until "0" is displayed but I can't ever get that to come up. And my last question is, where is the antenna for the radio/XM? Thanks.

on the Non-Navi cars there is no XM tuner installed. With Navi you get the XM tuner + subscription for 3 months. Check out the Honda site, but as I remember it the XM tuner is $400, and that's not including installation.
Go with Sirius. Howard stern is funnier than ever, and Bubba the love sponge is also hilarious. Or there's Martha Stuart if you're of that persuasion. |

Radio questions - XM and radio ID
So, even though it says "XM Ready" on it, I still have to install other parts? Is there a seperate antenna that needs to be installed as well? What about the radio ID? That should still come up, right? I may end up going with Sirius anyway when I leave Alaska, but I was just wondering if I had a defective stereo.

It's not defective. "XM Ready" only means that the head unit, the little LCD in your dash, can take the input from the XM Tuner and display the channel name, song name, artist name, etc.
You still have to purchase the XM Tuner, which comes with the antenna - minus installation - minus monthly subscription. Total Honda cost is above $400. If you go with those portable units then you can plug into the AUX port and the total cost is much less. The AUX port is below the cigarette lighter plug in the center console (below the radio). Here's some stuff I found through the Forum search: ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's a thread about the Honda installed XM Tuner. XM install in a navi .... outrageous! If you have the money, you can do an aftermarket flip up display. Almost all are Sirius/XM Satellite radio ready. My head unit install pics and stuff |
