Signs of clutch slipping again?
Alright heres the situation...on January I had to take my car in kuz I noticed the rpms were very high at low speeds[ clutch slippage...yes they replaced it]..its may now and I just got my oil change yesterday..and I noticed..for example b4 when I hit 30 to 40 mph from 3 to 4th it would reach 4 rpm..now when it hits 37 mph it is a lil over 4 rpm..being at 3rd gear. I wasn't really worrying kuz when I drove it..it felt okay..but it got to me when I looked at the rpms and speedometer.

To see if the clutch is slipping just stomp on the gas in 3rd or 4th and see if the RPM's shoot up. If they just go up in proportion to the way the car is accelerating you are fine. If they just shoot up and the car dosen't really accelerate then the clutch is slipping.
Take this for example. You are in 4th at 4k rpm's, you step on the gas and the tach shoots up to 7k. You lef off the gas and the car is still going about the same speed but the tach falls back down to 4k. |

When I worked at Volvo years ago we got a car in on trade that I could let the clutch out slowly with my foot on the brake and it would idle when fully released! That was a bad clutch! |
