downforce on the back end = less traction on the front end = pointless.
That is why a big friggin wing is pointless rice for a FWD car.

not necessarily true. a wing in the rear of a fwd car as its sole down force component = less traction, but with lots of down force in the front with splitters, canards, etc. and a wing = lots of added grip. 90% of British Grand Touring cars are FWD and have big ass wings.

wow dude ...

so tell me .. why do big team names like spoon, mugen, hasport, realtime tsx and rsx, 5zigen,Ksport,J's racing...all have wings on there FF race cars .. for looks? so say you have a 300hp civic that is only 2000lbs with 255 slicks wide tires tuned suspension every thing you do the rearend of the car just keeps coming around because of no traction ? ... no bashing just trying to help you see things right

Yes Canyon what you say is true. Added downforce in the front will add a lot of traction and to balance it out you gotta add downforce in the rear, else you'll be oversteering like mad.

I agree that fwd racecars have a big wing and it helps them out but it is more to balance the overall downforce on the vehicle.

I'm saying that a big ass wing on the back and nothing else won't give the gain that the user might be intending to acheive. If they think it looks cool, then it is their $$$.

btw fg2 what you say about the suspension is not all on the rearend obviously and the big wide slicks go on the front lol.. You don't see too many dragsters put huge wings on their cars for stability unless you're talking about top fuel dragsters. A good suspension is obviously important though.

i have seen plenty of drag cars with wings for stability one of the worst crashes in NHRA was because of the wing. look at the set up that Jay payne's TAFC has

older pic hes running a mustang body now

a 255 is not that wide race cars at my work use tires that are around 2 feet wide (AA pro mod drag cars )

Even if it hasn't been tested, I have a hard time believing that it provides zero downforce. Although I'm willing to bet it is all negligible, it must provide more than without a wing at all.

TOO MUCH, i can't seem to go faster than #$#......... its like MASSIVE DOWNFORCE

i say it gives some at least around 60mph, like when the car is wet from dew, or you just washed it, and you drive it for some drying, and the water fly's off, you can see in the rear view mirror, that the water flings off and floats up a little.........
