Notes: Called them, dropped off the car (didnt even deal with anybody personally) they called and mentioned the TSB which i already knew, told me that they ordered the parts, parts came in the next day and they got it done the day the parts came in, 3rd gear is perfect now, i wish every gear would be like 3rd now.

hey guys im glad to hear they're finally fixing the problem, i bought my civic in october of 06 and had to accept my the gear issue since they at college park honda in maryland couldnt replicate the problem wouldnt fix it. i ended up switching my mtf to AMSoil synthetic and have been ok for the most part.

well i called my dealership and told them about the TSB and the guy i was talking to was pretty much being a jerk. i told him the it stated that cars from 2006-2007 were all affected. so he tells me to bring it in for a diagnostic tomorrow. i think i should just call american honda just to avoid a second trip...

does anyone have any suggestions?

id just take it to the dealership or find one nearby that is doing them calling honda isnt going to do nething they will say that the dealership has to replicate it even if it is an affected si.

Notes:
Didn't even try to replicate -- they trust the guy with the Mugen I guess. They had it for about a week and were still waiting for some "special tools" to come in. I am moving Friday and they said even if they finished getting in all the tools today they couldn't have it ready by then so I'm going to just bring it back when I visit for Christmas unless I can find a good dealership near Laurel, MD. Overall, I suggest Pat Peck (esp. now that they have the tools) and will continue to go to them for my Honda services.

Notes: Brought the car in twice, dealership could not replicate the problem either time. Called a 3rd time to make an appointment and the service manager said just to bring it in and they'd order the parts. They didn't believe me about the grinding (was getting worse and worse). When they took the tranny apart to replace the parts they found that the gear was starting to chip. They ordered a new gear and replaced it at the same time. A week later, and I'm shifting like a hot knife through butter.

Notes: Not sure if they replicated the problem...I brought it in for an oil change and a busted window visor...also mentioned the 3rd gear issue. They called back when the oil change and visor were done and said 3rd gear parts were on order. took less than week for the parts to arrive and took them a couple days to complete the work.

Updated my post (#36) I do NOT recommend the dealership that i went to. Improper repair of my transmission has rendered it basically useless to me, and prompted my Lawsuit against HOA.

Note: They duplicated problem and fixed in 2 days. But I'm also getting some type of a clank sound when I drive very slow and turn.....like in and out of garage or a parking space. They blamed it on my springs.

Sounds like there isn't much of a wait for parts anymore. Good to hear!

They know of the bulletin, don't ask questions. They just order the parts and get it done. Usually 2 days total, 1 for diag. and 1 for the work performed...

Go to Criswell Honda in Germantown. I got mine fixed there. They know about the TSB 3rd gear issue and have fixed about 4 08 Si's already. It only took 2 days to fix.Make sure you call for an appt though.

They knew about the TSB 3rd gear issue and have fix a few Si's. Only took 2 days for mine to get it fixed not including waiting for the parts though.

Showed up, told them about the problem, I drove Dan around the parking lot for literally 2 mins until I told him it popped out/hard to get into gear, he told me to park and we set up an appointment. Literally took 10 mins from me driving onto the lot to me leaving. I brought the TSB report with me just in case, but it was never needed. It did take about a month for the parts to come in, but less than a day and a half for it to be fixed. Drives great! Dan is the man!

Mentioned the 3rd Gear issue and the Service Manager just asked a few questions as to when it would happen. He was already aware of the TSB. Just waited a week for the parts and third gear is smoother and haven't experienced the problem since.

Although, I'm now getting a clicking sound from the clutch and having the popping issue with the suspension. But that's another thread.
