oil question

hi peeps.I currently using mobil 1,and my oil minder is 50% .So i check my dip stick it's just a little above the 1st circle is this normal. i notice a little oil spill at the filter i prolly didn't put it that good or it's just prolly a spill from the last oil change or i'm just over reacting.Anyway do you think that's above the 1st circle is normal for 50 % oil minder.I got 1000 miles more before 3000 miles thank you.

So basically what you're saying is that in 2000 miles, you are just above the lower mark?

Did you do your own oil change?
Can you confirm it was at the top dot when it was changed?
Do you drive hard alot?
How did you break in your car?

It happens to me as well. I drive hard as well. just put in a quart of mobil 1 and you should be fine until you are scheduled for your next oil change.

it's just weird i though mobil 1 last better than conventional oil . i think reflash is the problem and my heavy foot , it's just i'm worried cause my car only has 8000 miles, and just over the low oil with 1000 miles to go.

I heard it's relatively normal for these motors. My RSX-S burned it a lot. Depends how you drive it I guess. Top it off and keep an eye on it.

I've read alot of this "burning oil" and I have to admit, I have no idea why you guys say that. My Si doesn't burn or eat oil. I check my oil level and it's fine. Cold, It always says that it's a bit over the mid hole. Hot, it says it's a pinch below the FULL hold mark. I do all my own oil changes and it's always the same all the time. I put 5 FULL Qts of oil and it never burns or lowers itself. I don't know why your cars are burning your oil.

Could be, if it was full when it was changed and it's not leaking, then it's burning it. Seems to be a semi common topic here, and with the RSX guys.

Mine didn't burn any either. Changed my M1 out with 6,500 miles on the oil and 10% on the maintenance minder and the level was still fine.
