Drivetrain lockup

I have a 2007 Si Sedan and have had the following problem happen about 3 times.

My car is parked in a parking garage, I go to put it in reverse, reverse engages, and I try to move backward but it seems to be locked up. If I apply a bit more gas and let out the clutch there will be a loud clunk and it feels like it "breaks free" and the car will be able to drive in reverse. I have no idea what is up.

This has happened after I get a car wash. It is a full service car wash like Car Buffs, and includes an under-body wash and rust inhibitor, etc. This first happened in the winter so I thought something might have been frozen after the car wash, but it did it to me a few days ago. The temperature was 50F, so it couldn't have been frozen. I have not tried to drive forward with this problem because it is not possible. Everything seems fine once I get the car going.

Only notice it after I get a car wash, park it, and then go to drive it again.

Any possible ideas to why this is happening? I am completely unsure to what is going on.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like surface rust on your brakes. If you park your car with wet brakes (or if they get wet while it sits) surface rust can form on the pads and rotors. When you get in your car to leave this rust must break free for the brakes to start rotating again.

It is possible that whatever wheel cleaner they used causes slightly increased brake part rust while drying (some wheel cleaners I've seen warn about brake part corrosion). This may be why you only notice it after getting a car wash.

Not a big deal. This is most likely all that is happening.

BigT got it, it's your brakes.

My car does it too, and it's not even a Honda.
