i dont do this very often, but when i go redline in first and shift to 2nd, it grinds maybe 1 every three times. i try to shift as quick as possible and dont have probelms in other gears like 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th. it seems like i have to wait till the rpms drop to make sure it doesnt grind.

does anyone else have this problem, and has anyone gotten it fixed?

Thanks
I was having the same problem as you. I just told them that it was grinding occasionally when shifting into second at higher RPM's. They ordered a new complete 2nd gear set along with the complete 3rd gear set. On the work order thing, it said something like PARTS DEFECTIVE.

Oh and yes, they are also covering the 2nd gear under warranty. My '06 SI has about 19,000 miles on it.

I am at the Honda dealership as we speak. Went directly to the service manager and he was really nice. He asked me a bunch of questions about the 3rd gear issue, seems he/this dealer is aware of the problem already. They took my car in and right away and it's waiting to be inspected so they can duplicate the issue. Hopefully it won't take long until inspection, but he did offer me a free rental in case the labor would take over 24 hours, which it obviously will, unless they have all the parts.. So, I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope that everything will keep runninng smooth...we'll see..

Well after waiting since the end of April, they finally got all the parts in last week. My service guy said that it didn't take long to get the nuts and bolts, but it just took forever to get the actual gear itself. I took the car in on Wednesday morning and got it back yesterday afternoon. I was surprised it only took two days to get the job done.

My review:

My transmission feels AWESOME now. Not only does 3rd feel perfect, but it seems like some of the other gears feel more crisp somehow. 1st feels a bit notchy for some reason, but it started that a week or two ago. I'm guessing it's probably my fault since this is my first manual car. So I guess my transmission feels awesome... other than 1st gear haha.

Update on mine..
Ok, well after waiting for almost 3 hours for them to test my car last Wednesday, a mechanic finally drove it but according to him couldn't replicate the issue(so I explained to him the problem and convinced the guy to bouch for me; he did). The service manager after hearing from the mechanic came out and gave me the run around, telling me to bring my car in next Tuesday because it was almost the end of the week/the 4th of July holiday was coming up..blah blah blah..I explained I didn't feel safe driving my car in this condition and that at one time I almost had an accident with my family inside the car(I was trying to push the case). He then brings up that my car is lowered and that I have an aftermarket intake and that my car is only 1% of the cars being affected by this problem LOL!!
So I played it smart and accept it his offer, better late than never I guess. Supposedly they'll do the work on Tuesday morning. I will get a rental by then while they take appart the transmision and figure out what's going on with it, THEN, they'll order the parts per the service bulletin and whatever else it is they'll find damaged inside. So that's my story so far..I'll take the car again on Tuesday..

I wish Honda would've gotten bent over by the media over this. This is a horrid problem that's worse than most of GM's more recent ones that I can think of.

Shit happens, I know, but I'm just really disappointed that Honda, of all companies, is behind this one. To pretend that they didn't knowingly use these parts for years is just foolish thinking.

so i brang my car in this morning to get the 3rd gear checked out and i had a mechanic ride with me to try and duplicate the problem. we both took turns driving and neither one of us was able to duplicate the problem. he told me there was nothing he could do for me. he then said im just reading things off the internet and i'm expecting for a problem to occur.

kinda sucks. but he said maybe i should come back in the fall when its colder out since the weather was one of the factors in the TSB.

Fixed baby

Got 3rd gear fixed about a week ago and she's smooth as butter. My main problem was that it'd pop out all the time and it hasn't happened since. Kuhn Honda in Tampa is phenomenal. They didn't insist on duplication and when it took a few weeks for parts to come in, the service department called and told them to speed it up, got parts 3 days later.

Thumbs up Today my Civic Si 07 go to the Dealer for 3th gear, suspension pop, ...

Hi all

Today at 08:00am my Civic Si 2007 go to the Dealer for the 3th gear problem. My car have 29500km and I have this problem since I have the car. I hope that my 3th synchro gear will be change. TBS 08-020 .

Another problem its the front suspension pop over a bump (sometime in rear) .TBS 07-078.

The last problem its the black plastic under the wiper arm, when I drive at low speed I ear some rathles or cracking inside the car. I have not find a TBS for this .

at 14:15pm : My service guy call me and they have to order the gear set and the bump stop for the front suspention, he give me a new appointement next week

I was really surprised that they gives me this answer and especially when he tells me there is a TSB for my problems.

I also have the TWM Short Shifter, cable bushing and base bushing and he never tell me anything about that.

they may not even know you have a SS. I have one too, but I kept it on the DL..that'd just give them another reason to say: we can't help you, your car's modified

My dealership didn't even test drive my car, they just ordered the parts. They also took my word for it with my second gear grinding when shifting into it at high RPM's, and ordered a complete second gear set too

The dealership had already worked on one of the S's that had this problem(I think they guy is a member here), so that might have been a factor. Although I'm not sure they test drove his either.
