Does anyone have trouble getting it into Reverse??? Mine just doesn't want to go into reverse sometimes. I don't know if it's related to my gear problem or what. I know how to drive my car... so I know it's not driver stupidity.
Then the other day I'm driving gettin ready to shift into 4th, and it actually popped outta 3rd for the first time... Took me 3 tries to get it into 4th while goin down the road... I had the clutch all the way to the floor, just wouldn't get in there. I'm taking it back in, made a little headway with the manager. So hopefully it helps w/them looking more seriously at my car.

Sometimes it doesn't want to get into the Reverse gate. For that, I followed someone's advice of popping it into First and then trying the Reverse gear afterwards. Works everytime.

sometimes mine wont go all the way into reverse from a cold start, but what i do in that case is let my foot off the brake and let it roll slightly forward (not even an inch) and then it will go right in.

Reverse is not a synchronized gear so it won't always pop right in. Let out the clutch and then push it again will fix it most of the time. That or put it in first and then reverse. That or let the car move a little with the clutch pedal depressed.

In a full blown argument with Hyannis Honda about this TSB. They say must duplicate the issue-I quoted the TSB, said happens when colder, hard to duplicate. Dropping car off next Monday.

issue is I got a short shift kit :), me thinks should take it out or what??

-josh on cape cod

update later today-Hyannis Honda is replacing the 3rd gear and waiting on parts, So the car is at the dealer getting HFP suspension bought online :), 3rd gear replaced, alignment on Honda. Waay agitated over the 2 conversations with Service, but 3rd time we chatted they said let us do the TSB work. I got a bit hot, memntioned warranty, lemon law, further discussion to occur onsite in the Sales area :), and how can I duplicate it when the TSB says intermittent!!

Hope this solves issue.

Short shift still in though....

MAN I took my car in today and got the can't duplicate crap from them...

he also said just bring it back if it happens again. I told him man it did it last night and this moring when I drove it in it felt like butter. wtf am I suppose to do guys?

How the F can we make it duplicate...when it does it when it wants to? I'd have to admit mine is just minor but I still want, what needs to be fix fixed.

btw I took my short shifter off...(and yes the blue cap was a PITA!)

should i just keep bringing it in to them? or leave it over night? help guys.

What year model is it?
If it's just minor and you've got plenty of time/miles left on the warranty, you should do what I'm going to do and just take it back in closer to the end of warranty if it doesn't get any worse.

Otherwise if it gets worse it will be much easier for them to replicate.

its an 06 bud.

the guy at dealer even said don't worry about it man u have ur warrantee till 100k so just bring it back. if it does it again. The car is at 54k I just don't have time to keep bringing it back u know.

what if i move from here? will any honda dealer treat me the same?

or has anyone thought about the "your car is old now" thats why its doing this?

damn i know theres a problem...and they do too, or else why would honda come out with a tsb with a new part #? i just don't get it.

excuses man...replicate it...wtf

I have not had a problem with third yet, except for hard shifting into third. I have noticed a grinding under hard acceleration going into second.

Had a major crisis with the car today... it was smoking crack! I seriously didn't know what the heck to do! Scared me alot.. thought my tranny was gonna fall right out on the road & I was out in the middle of no where. Between popping out of gear & it not going into gear while driving, the grinding & the horrible...very horrible notchiness in which I could feel it hit every tooth of the gears thru the shifter & hear it clicking into gear... I didn't know if I should call a tow truck or just keep driving. Freaked me out. I called the dealer after I calmed myself down...didn't even mess w/gettin service on the phone. I got the manager of the dealership that I got to know over the last few weeks due to him dealing w/the company I work for on the phone. I was like dude...my car is insane! He's like bring it in now.. I couldn't, no time. Last time they wouldn't even give me a loaner. He's like bring it in 1st thing tomorrow, I'll let the service mngr. know exactly who u are and that ur coming & I'll give ya a car to drive. The sooner ya get it in here the better to duplicate it. There is that duplicate word again.. UGGG! I hope my car doesn't decide to be a jerk tomorrow & pretend like it's just peachy! And I hope by going thru the manager & him knowing me that I have a better shot at gettin somethin done here... I really need a guy friend to go in with me here, cuz I know NOTHING about a transmission!

No, you don't. If it's not shifting smoothly, that's all you need to know. If you internet connection goes down, do you need to know how to fix it to get service? Nope; you call in the problem and hope for the best.

It's their job to figure it out, and luckily, Honda has provided them with a handy TSB. Take one along for support if you want, but be respectful, firm, and consistent with the service department and you won't need a guy around.
