While I have sympathy for them, I'm not sure (and correct me if I'm wrong) that they worked as hard to get this as we have done. A lot of us have bent over backwards, breaking our backs, and spending FAR too much time battling Honda of America and our dealerships about this issue.
Hopefully this fixes it. |

I'll try my luck this week guys. Though I'm not under the manufacturers warranty anymore just with an extended warranty 7 year / 100k miles. So hopefully they will still help me out
I never really had much problems with my 3rd gear but hell.. why not get it fixed right? but then what worries me is, "Why fix it if it isn't broken?"

what sucks is I have a 2nd gear issue, not 3rd....grinds when shifting at high rpm's
Read the TSB to this point...its basically a TSB to appease a few people...all they have to do is say its normal DIAGNOSIS Drive a known-good vehicle under the same conditions as the customer’s complaint, and compare the shift quality. If the customer’s vehicle has noticeable shift quality problems, replace the 3rd gear set. NOTE: It is not uncommon for there to be some resistance or notchiness when shifting into third gear. Lets say you are one of the people who got the dealer to recognize the problem and they did the transmission fluid flush. Would you think it would be possible to get them to do this TSB if you showed them the old receipt where they actually recognized the problem?

My third gear only grinds a couple times a week- usually cold, so i really doubt they could confirm it during a road test and will probably say its normal. I fall in the vin range though. Im not so sure i want the transmission ripped out of my brand new car though either... whats the warranty on this?

mrbill - Thanks for also providing a PDF! Helps a lot. On another note, any Canadians have the Canadian version? I'm almost certain the stealerships will tell you that TSB article will do squat in America Jr. Land. ![]()

My wife has a 03 RSX type S with 60k on it. While my third gear acts up sometimes, hers actually does the "pop out of gear" things. I think her RSX is in need of a fix more than my Si. I have delt with my Si enough now that I can tell when third isn't going to go into gear correctly and I can compensate for it.

yea i vote to sticky it too...this should be right up there w/ the 3rd gear newscast.
Do you guys think HONDA got it right this time though? AND It kinda scares me that they gotta rip the whole transmission apart and try to piece it back together....especially if its some newbie mechanic. I'm just scared imma walk out w/ more problems then i walked in with. Last edited by malditoron; 04-13-2008 at 01:51 PM. Reason: late reply |
