Tens of thousands of six speed manual transmissions are possibly affected, and a single TSB was issued that simultaneously covered all of them. Parts shortages may be inconvenient, but they're hardly unexpected. "[T]hey don't even fix enough transmissions to have [those parts] on back order," doesn't seem to apply, or even make sense. Work the system and ignore the distractions. If you choose to wait for the service, at least have the problem documented by Honda and have the work done before your warranty coverage ends. |

TSB in NY
I took my Si to Hillside HOnda here in New York this week. They refused to do the work because they said they couldn't duplicate the problem.
I've documented my complaints with previous visits and letters/calls to Honda Customer Service. I faxed another letter right away to HCS complaining about it and asking them to arrange the fix for me at a dealership that has done it succesfully. Part of me is not sure I should even bother. What if they make it worse? It seems like a risk. But I'll be paying the car off for years, so I should get it right. It should be a recall, not a TSB. Nissan found a slight potential problem with the clutch slave cylinder in my 350Z and issues a recall. I had it done and it works better. I didn't even have a problem before, but it's easier to launch now. Honda should be proactive like Nissan. WHat's wrong with Honda these days? Has anyone had the TSB done in New York? I'd appreciate it if anyone who has could let me know how it went. Thanks and good luck. |

Lol proactive like nissan... Thats funny, It took a class-action lawsuit to get them to realize that the alignment was all out of wack on 03'-04 Z's and burning the front tires up in 5k miles... And they give you a 125$ tire coupon if you drop the suit with them, or you can hire your own lawyer and fly to cali and go to court... Which they should fix it like the 05+ Z's...

I took my car in to Sterling McCall Honda today in Texas. They were planning on test driving it but decided not to and just went ahead and ordered the parts.
I was actually kind of anxious for them to drive it. My car has that horrid notch effect 99% of the time so I wanted to see their reactions to it. I think mine shifts smoothly into third as often as everyone else's on here has that occasional notch effect. Not often. Anyone know the ETA for the parts? I hope it doesn't take over four weeks to get em. Also, anyone gotten the fix already and put the short shifter back in? I'm still debating leaving it out for good or putting it back in there. I don't want these problems coming back, ever, and if the SS induces the problem it stays out. |

Hey guys new to this site but have been browsing for about a few months... And now that I see I can take my Honda in for this fix, I was just wondering anyone live in Toronto Canada? If so where have you taken your car for the 3rd gear fix? Also my VIN is (2HGFG2152GH100358) I should be good to go right? It’s a 06 Honda Si
I spoke to my dealership about this problem but they had no idea what I was talking about. I spoke to them about it when I was getting a new Engine in my car had to fill my oil every 3000K, so they dropped a new engine in the car about 3 months ago. The 3rd gear problem has been a bit better and happens a lot less now but still at times happens and is a bit rough going into 3rd gear. But dropping in a new engine they wouldn’t replace the gear synchronizer or the shift sleeve would they? Anymore info would be great guys. :) thanks |

I dropped my car off last night to have it checked out, we'll see what they say...
On a side note, there was a Habi FG parked in the back of their lot with the hood open, and clamping device (from what I could tell, but it was mostly cover with a drop cloth) and it had no air box. Weird... |
