Took mine in today. Service advisor said the parts are on national backorder and had no idea when they would be available. Luckily for me, it's hit or miss, but when it does happen it pisses me right off. Unless it gets any worse, I will probably jsut mention it everytime i bring it in for service since it's not that much a problem for me.

You have to call them if you saw some dude driving your car. My shifter bushings were a gift. The dealership is also over an hour away and I have driven back and forth 4 times in the past two weeks. I hope I never see this piece of shit dealership again. I just know that if I call and complain one more time that these guys are going to try and screw me in any way they can.

I went to Anderson Honda in Baltimore and was told that they couldn't replicate the grinding... As soon as pulled off and got down the street the car grinds. I'm wondering if the techs even know what they're supposed to be feeling. Its obvious to me that 3rd isn't anywhere as smooth as the other gears but I think they're feeling for something more severe.

Check it out... the TSB also covers other Honda makes. My brother has an '05 Accord 6sp that grinds like crazy going into third. He brought it up to the dealership many times before he crossed the 36k warranty cut off, and yesterday they told him that he was out of luck on getting it repaired free of charge. I told him that since he reported it way before 36k, they should be willing to cover it. Yes or no???

Well after reading all of this thread over the course of a week I think that I am going to wait a while until the dealers get performing this fix down to a science. Then the parts supply should level out as well. Not to mention the fact that its getting warmer now and likelyhood of them being able to replicate the issue is slim. the problem doesnt bother me that much for as little as it does it. Also, I have the safety and comfort of a honda certified used warranty to work with (4yr/48k b2b and 7yr/100k powertrain.)

Two John's, you're probably right. I hear that your advisor by "Spears" since there's the other John. Anyways, Spears was recommending me against the fix. It's possibly your car he was telling me about that he grinded twice and got a lockout on 3rd during a test drive.

I totally agree on your tidbit of professionalism. I don't think the techs care at all. From my maint. records, it looks like Christopher Heang and Jim Honda do okay jobs. While all the other times I've gotten service done from other techs, I ALWAYS find issues. They've messed up on my car too many times.

I'm especially scared for my 3rd gear after hearing your incident. I took my Si in Friday for the grinding gears and clicking clutch and they said they might have to keep it till Monday and will update me later in the day. I don't get a call till 3 days later (Monday) when they say they'd need it at least another day to test drive it. WTF? They had the car for 3 business and they didn't test it!? How can people tell me that Hardin's a decent delearship!?

The only reason why I go back there is because of their rewards program that gives me every other oil change for free.

Dealer has had my car since 4/24. They're saying they won't have the parts until 5/14 now.

At least they gave me a loaner...

With mine, they just ordered the parts, and gave me my car back. They will make an appointment when the parts get in, and I take it back to them. That way I'm driving my own car the whole time

Finally getting my car back tomorrow - I hope. My dealership had it for a week. I just got off the phone with the service manager, he told me everything is put back together but they just want to keep it until tomorrow morning to test drive it to see if it's all good or not. I kind of don't like the idea of someone driving my car around without me there but I guess I have no choice. I just hope I don't get my car back with any interior scuffs, door dings or paint scratches from them having my car all week...

Anyone have any problems with their dealerships damaging the car cosmetically while they had your car for the fix? I'm usually not too worried about the dealership doing services to my car but they had it for a week and did some pretty extensive work on it so I'm a little anxious about what I'll see tomorrow. Hopefully everything will be the same as when I brought it in.

Excellent idea. I have a feeling that myself, along with others, had problems probably due to unskilled/unexperienced mechanics. I suspect the parts are good, but due to the fact that some peoples' cars are fine, and others are terrible (even though we all are using the same parts) leaves me to logically believe that some mechanics may not be experienced enough to handle this issue.

I know, I know. Its just that I don't have a lot of time to do it myself since I work 7 days a week at two jobs. After 30K miles, I've only spent about ~$120 on all my oil changes and maintenances. Not too shabby, aside from them messing up every other time I take it for service.

Anyhows, they called me back and said that they didn't experience any grinding on the second test drive and will hold the car ANOTHER day for more testing and other fixes which they haven't even worked on. I took pictures of the gauges, especially my odometer/trip meter/fuel reading. We'll see how many miles they had fun with on my car.

Finally got my car back this morning and so far so good. First I did some normal shifting at 3/3.5k RPM, and I was nervously expecting a grind or super notchiness but suprisingly the 3rd gear engaged excellently every time. I also received a new 4th gear, but I didn't notice anything new with that because I never had a problem with that gear to begin with.

I downshifted a few times into 3rd and it engaged smoothly as well. There's just a little tiny bit of notchiness but that's most likely normal. It seems like the new syncro does in fact prevent the grind that we've all become so used to.

I believe the reason why this TSB hasn't helped some peoples' cars is because the damage could become so extensive that even a new gear/syncro cannot solve the issue as simply as it has for most. There's most likely other integral parts inside the transmission that could have been damaged besides just the 3rd gear/syncro where simply replaced a gear or syncro just isn't enough to remedy the problem. I believe for some, a new transmission with updated 3rd gear/syncro could prove necessary as the only true remedy depending on the state of their transmission - but yeah, that would be for the dealership to decide...

Anyways, so far so good - I feel like I have a new car all over again. I'm going to give this about a week of various testing before I'm truely sure.

Well, picked it up today. I don't know if they even drove it, but they placed an order for the 3rd gear parts. They said they didn't know when the parts would be in since they are on backorder, but at least they placed the order. Maybe it's b/c they kept the car for 2 days to fix a passenger seat rattle that isn't fixed. They broke the seat backing trying to find the rattle, had to order a whole new seat back. All for nothing considering it's still there. They said one of the seat rails is jacked and they ordered a new one. Anway, hopefully the 3rd gear parts won't take too long to come in. Judging by the feedback on this thread, looks like 3-4+ weeks.

^^^Thats what I'm wondering...

Bringing my car in on Friday.

I removed my TWM SS today, and I plan on removing the TWM cable bushings tomorrow. Do you guys think I should remove the TWM base bushings also?
