Then I also head that some dealers don't mind and will even change to that for you. Not trying to deter people from using it, just answering back about using the Honda MTF.
I read that it voids ur warranty right before I was about to switch mine to Amsoil. So when I took my car in and got it back after them tellin me they couldn't 'duplicate the problem' they had only changed the tranny fluid. I called them back the next day cuz my car grinded again. (Obviously the new MTF didn't do a thing for it) And I asked them what kind of fluid they used.. they said standard Honda tranny fluid. I said anyway we can switch over to Amsoil, I hear it helps some? He said nope, we won't cover anything on your Transmission if you do that, voids the warranty cuz we consider it aftermarket fluid. So there is your answer. Like dude up there said tho, some dealerships may still work on it with Amsoil in it.

whatever man dont let them brainwash u....i switched my tranny fluid and have not had a single problem since, not a single pop out or grind when before it was notchy 24-7 and grinded everyday....my tranny is dead smooth now....they told me the same thing about using anything other than their tranny fluid and couldnt replicate the problem so they didnt wanna do anything....i would go get this fix but dont see the need to now that my tranny has given me absolutely no problems

The shop (Honda Dealer) put synthetic MTF in my car. There's a TSB about that somewhere.

I just took the base bushings and ss off. 15 minutes. Totally worth it just so they don't have anything else to blame the transmission problems on. I couldn't get the big cable bushing off - seems like it is welded in place - so I just left the cable bushings on. Probably why they couldn't replicate...

The thing I find funny about the "aftermarket" vs honda mtf is that they have no problem letting you put in synthetic motor oil. Does that void my engine warranty - even though they put it in?
My dealership used to say absolutely no to anything other than honda mtf. Now they are wavering a bit. The service writer even said he knows there are better mtfs out there, but since I am having transmission issues that I would be better off keeping the honda fluid in there for now - just in case honda won't honor my warranty because of the aftermarket fluid...

Does anyone know if there's also a TSB for the new honda transmission fluid?

Mine's not really bad enough to warrant me leaving it there for a week to get the third gear replaced, but I'd love to be able to have them change out the MTF under warranty to see if it helps any.

there's not a TSB, just explain to them your problem and let them know you would the MTF fluid flush, they'll take care of it

If I were you I would take the car in and have it done. A week without your car is going to be better than the thousands you are going to spend when your tranny completely craps out on you after your warranty goes. I had this fix done and it really works. I didn't think my tranny was that bad either but now it feels magnitudes better. Spend the time now, save the money later. Best of luck.

Is anyone having issues getting parts for the TSB? My dealership has been waiting 2 weeks for some bolts and I called them the Monday after the TSB was issued (Sat April 12th).

You can probably safely assume that if it got worse then the mechanic doing the work screwed something up.

well. i took my car to honda, i had a tech drive my car while i rode with him. the car didnt grind once, but he said he knows ive brought it there a bunch of times before for this issue, so he said he believed that i had a tranny prob. he pulled up the tsb, and ordered the parts. none the less, i will be getting it fixed next week. the parts will be there tomorrow but he wants to personally fix it next week when he has time.... the only complaint i have is that i had 2nd gear issues as well, but they are only fixing 3rd gear....

If that is the case, tell them to order you a 2nd gear/sleeve/synchro set and pay for that one yourself. I think the 2nd gear synchro set is like 150-200$. Have them install it while the tranny is apart.

Then at least you know your 2nd gear is getting fixed along with the 3rd gear.

Well... good thing my dealership is the shit. I didnt even buy my car there and they hook it up. They gave me the part # for the bolts im missing and ironically its just 1 set of 3. OH the agony. I got a Vibrant Header and Sk2 70mm exhaust for birthday gifts and it's killing me watching them collect dust. The bigger burn is knowing those parts will prob give me the advantage on my friends Prelude that barely beats me now.
