"DIAGNOSIS Drive a known-good vehicle under the same conditions as the customer’s complaint, and compare the shift quality. If the customer’s vehicle has noticeable shift quality problems, replace the 3rd gear set. NOTE: It is not uncommon for there to be some resistance or notchiness when shifting into third gear." -mr. bill |

THANK GOD MY 08 doesnt have any problems. It shifts like butter even on a cold and rainy/snowy morning. I bought my Si to get away from terrible transmission problems i was experiencing with my previous car.
I feel for all of you going through this problem though. I just sold my 2002 Mustang GT for this reason "the infamous Tremec3650 2nd gear grind". I even had the TSB done on that car with the updated gear sets/synchros ect ect ect... First shift out of the parking lot after the over haul GRINDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD. So dont expect THIS or any TSB to work miracles or do anything for that matter. Doing the TSB on my Mustang made the issue worse and presented a notchy 3rd gear as well. Getting the TSB done isnt the hard part, Its convincing the dealer that YOUR car needs it done. MY ONE TIP TO ALL, DONT DEAL WITH THE SERVICE PEONS. GO STRAIGHT TO THE SERVICE MANAGER. IT WILL SAVE YOU ALOT OF TRIPS WITH THE OUTCOME OF "CANT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM" |

the next steps...
So i have the ridiculous 3rd gear notchiness/occassional grind and constant vagueness. What steps do I take to get the most success from my dealer? I basically bought the '06 2 weeks ago and only since have found out about the messed up 3rd gear. It makes the driving experience very unenjoyable having to prepare myself for a possible 3rd gear grind.
Just walk into the dealership and state may case? I NEED this fixed! |

yeah, i know what you mean. but still, how could they get out of it when the car that gets distributed between Canada and USA is made hours away from the dealership.
its like how i waited 2 weeks to get my car from the time they made it. i could have just went to the factory to get it and i wouldnt have waited so long. blah. |
