Really? It worked for me on several occasions. It was kinda sad, because the dealerships were like "Oh wow, that is real!"

And yeah, it does kinda work like that if your dealer isn't crooked. If you DEMAND that they fix your car, of course it doesn't work like that, but paper evidence is more than compelling enough.

From all I've read here, other forums, other things, 90% of people are getting the same line.... "WE WERE UN-ABLE TO REPLICATE OR DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM".. Sounds like a line to me if I've ever heard one. Pretty sad

Update.

Just got the car back. Drove it around a bit and it felt great! 3rd gear shifted in soooo easy. Down shifting to 3rd or up shifting to 3rd was no problem at all. They replaced the 3rd gear and aligned the vehicle.

Parts used
24210-PNS-010 FORK 3-4 6799308
23444-PNS-316 GEAR SET, 8833824
08718-0004 HONDABOND 8263386
0898-9031 FLUID, MT 8429094

They did mess up the alignment tho.
Left front camber was 0.8 before and its still the same. -0.5 ~ 0.5 is spec.
Right front camber was -0.6 before its still the same. -0.5 ~ 0.5 is spec.
Left toe is in spec at 0.02.
Right toe is in spec at 0.01.
Looks like they only adjusted the toe...maybe the camber is non-adjustable?
Rear left toe is at 0.08 now in spec
Rear right toe is at 0.08 in spec now.
Thrust Angel was at -0.13 before...which means I was dog tracking all over the road which I didn't even notice. Now its at 0.00

Sorry to hear that. I say you try a different dealership.

I'm going to.. just a bummer cuz I was so hyped up when I got my Si. So hard to enjoy a car when it's brand new and don't wanna work right for ya..there fore you can't drive it right.. honestly scared of it that I'll break it shifting with how it shifts! lol. Big let down cuz of that.. and the fact that I'm going thru so much trouble with it ....

Things I've noticed after the TSB fix was applied to my Si.:
  • No more resistance or "wall block effect" when shifting into third
  • No more notchiness feeling when shifting into third
  • Shifting into third feels like any other gear now.

This was the first TSB fix for the Si they've done. In fact my service advisor, Jerremie, wants me to keep in touch to see how the TSB works out for me in the long haul. I let her know another Si owner here on Ocho read about my other posting for known dealerships applying the fix in California, and may have called her for help. She was laughing and said yeah they came almost immediately after I did. She informed me that the other person here on Ocho has their parts on back order but they will fix their's when it comes in. Since my Si was their first, it took longer to fix. I will test more tomorrow and update you all as well.
Got an appointment Tuesday Homie. Damn you for hoggin up all the parts. J/K lol!
What exactly did you say to describe it when you took it in? Could they replicate the problem or what? This will be my second time and hopefully they will hook me up.

Hahaha sorry for being the first one at Pacific to get the parts dude! April 12th came, and I was there the next business day. =)

Just an FYI before I brought my car in, I called Honda America just to get a case number, even though I already knew that would go no where, but continued the conversation so I could post my case number on the other thread here. Then I spoke to a service manager named Bill at Pacific Honda and brought my car in.

This was actually the very FIRST time for me to bring my car to a dealership to talk about my 3rd gear issue since I already knew that before this TSB came out, my chances of getting it fixed by any dealership in San Diego would be useless, considering Juan's Civic Si issue shown on FOX 6 news.

Jerremie was the person to help me out. She is a very nice service advisor and she seemed like she really wanted to help me out. She did say they had to replicate it, and I after some talk I left my car overnight so they could test it at 7:00am when the car is still cold. She actually made that recommendation so that my car wouldn't have a chance to warm up, so that there would be a better chance of replicating the 3rd gear issues. When their top tech Nick Ruiz couldn't replicate it the next day, she called me up saying, "I've got bad news, we couldn't replicate the problem all day. BUT the good news is that we went ahead and ordered all the parts from that TSB and will fix it for you anyways."

Basically that's what happened. Just FYI, I didn't go to the dealership all pissy and rude. I wanted to see if my politeness might help. I use this same politeness to get better upgrades for rooms in Vegas and figured it wouldn't hurt to be nice to her, since she was nice to me. So basically that's it. Pacific didn't replicate the issue, but went ahead and fixed it any ways.

Update: 04/25/08

Second day of driving after the TSB fix. All day I mixed my driving from freeway to city/residential. Clutch all the way down, and half way down trying to force a replication. I did everything I could, except not using the clutch. Smoooooooooooth as butter. The shifting feels REALLY good. Still no notchy feeling. I love 2nd to 3rd shifting now. I'm very very very happy.!

I got an email today from the service manager at my dealership. he said that he ordered the parts and will let me know when they come in and he will have honda pay for the rental car while its being fixed. Finally. I complained about it the past 2 times i had my oil changed and they changed the MTF the first time and I told them that didn't work for long. Looks like my dealership is finally going to work with me on this issue.

BtW its Vic Bailey Honda in Spartanburg, SC

I went to Independence Honda in Bloomsburg, Pa. Some young tech checked out my car and I rode along. He asked me what it was doing and I explained. He told me straight out he doesn't drive stick much and never drove the civic si so he didn't know what normal was. He asked me to drive. I told him it was hard to push to 3rd, and I showed him. He talked to the service manager, came back 5 mins later and said they would order the parts.

I CAN'T WAIT

Very cool last night high 30's. Drove it this morning and it really feels 100% different. More mechanical than before (I have the bushing and the SS). Feels good to bark third again.
