Update: I got my car back from Pacific Honda today. YAY! I love how it feels. So far so good, and no grinds, even though I'm going to have to drive it more to see if it will replicate again.

Things I've noticed after the TSB fix was applied to my Si.:
  • No more resistance or "wall block effect" when shifting into third
  • No more notchiness feeling when shifting into third
  • Shifting into third feels like any other gear now.

This was the first TSB fix for the Si they've done. In fact my service advisor, Jerremie, wants me to keep in touch to see how the TSB works out for me in the long haul. I let her know another Si owner here on Ocho read about my other posting for known dealerships applying the fix in California, and may have called her for help. She was laughing and said yeah they came almost immediately after I did. She informed me that the other person here on Ocho has their parts on back order but they will fix their's when it comes in. Since my Si was their first, it took longer to fix. I will test more tomorrow and update you all as well.

Hey any of you guys actually have a picture of the gear they took out and how bad it actually looked?

I wish I can get this fix done...will have to take it in and see if they'll do it. This weekend I'll have to take off the Short Shifter.

i got my car back 2 days ago. i was in the shop for a week due to parts. 3rd gear feels like the others now... i like it. everything feel a bit more smoother now too. i guess its the new fluid. but 3rd is good now...im happy. everyone should keep bugging the dealership till they get it to duplicate (took me about 5 visits) or just fix it to get rid of ya

Here is kind of a weird question. Ok, I know I have 3rd gear issues. But I wanna know if this is normal or related to my issues. I used to have an EX.. I know it won't run nearly the same as an Si obviously. But also comparing it to other cars w/much much bigger motors than mine like a 400 hp T/A. And also the owner of the T/A has driven my car and said the same exact thing that I notice. My RPM's run so high. Like I'm at 6 RPM's way before I should be shifting. My EX, any other shift I've driven, and even the T/A w/a much bigger engine...those RPM's don't run nearly as high as mine. Is that normal for an Si to run at those high of RPM's on just a normal driving/shifting basis??? I'm not stomping on it, I'm not over running it at all. It sounds like it should be in 6th gear & is at 6 RPM's when I'm only doing 50 mph! Does your's run like that?

Jen, I know MANY others can answer your question better than me, but in a nutshell: higher redline= less torque. You'll notice all those big engine with torque and power for days have a much lower redline. I'm sure others can explain it much more eloquently, and much more technically.

And now for something completely different

I went to Honda this morning, and had my new parts ordered. Hopefully soon I can be rid of this wretched third gear BS

Ok guys.
Got mine back yeterday and didn't drive that far after pick-up.

Went to the store last night.

1.Stifted normally throught the gears (COLD)-No problems, I thought third was going to hang up; shifted no problems.

2 Heel toe down-shift felt really good. High rpm Downshift into third (Heel Toe), no "catching" feeling.

3 Shifting through the gears near redline, No problems. (third would hang, wouldn't go into forth high RPM)

I took a picture of the Syncro, but it did come out. the edge of each teeth where damaged. If you run your finger over it, it is really sharp (a little pressure and I would have cut my finger.

I did talk to the service writer and one of the causes was skip stifting, I don't know if I believe this.

Mine is done after a week in the shop.

This car is so much more fun when you can really go through the gears.

Here is my situation, i went to my dealer (ed napelton honda on 95th on oak lawn, il), they had no clue about the bulliten that honda posted, they spent around 30min to find this and sure enough they did. now i have to wait till monday to drop off the car which sorta blow considering the fact that i have work in the afternoon and i am getting home at 3:45 am on sunday from work, but i will be getting a rental so it shouldnt be too bad, but i will miss my baby during that time. and i am goin to inform my locar news station fox 32 so they can put this on the news so everyone will know.

^^

First off, you dont take a printed TSB to a dealer and expect them to jump and fix your car.. It dont work like that

I took my car in today, the service advisor came out and told me they couldn't replicate it. That so pisses me off. They checked the hydralic lines so they say and they tightened my clutch pedal. It feels like I have a six puck clutch, did anyone else get this as well?

Be nice to the dealer and sometimes they will tell you they fixed, but really didn't do crap and charged Honda! If you really don't trust the dealership, first go to a different one where you feel comfortable and if that doesn't work, make sure to ask to see the old parts when the car is ready. In cases like this there are always ways to correctly talk and know the dealer ...

That was not the first time I've had my car in for this problem.. I've had it in twice before. They told me there was not a thing wrong with it. Now, I printed it off this time.

I think the poeple that have had the best luck on gettung the "Fix" is

1.Those who have been complaining to the dealer about this problem.

2.Ones that are real bad.

I had both.
