I called HONDA CANADA this afternoon.

The TSB is on it's way and should be here by next week or so.

Check the Canada East forum and look at the sticky entitled: "3rd Gear Friendly Dealers".

I'm in Canada. I was in the dealership today getting my popping suspension checked. They have no corresponding TSB on their system yet. The advisor I deal with has never heard of anybody having a problem with their 3rd gear. (The problem is actually rare I think) She's quite helpful so I trust she's telling me the truth. I looked on her computer with her, and the TSB isn't there yet for 2008 or 2007 models.

I'm at work, and had a message from my dealer that my SI is done and ready to go. So I will pick it up in about 3 hours, and will post my review of the fix later tonight.

GOt an e-mail today from the Service manager at my dealer. Parts are on the way!!!!!!!!!!! Here's the message!

"No problem, Jonathan. I just ordered your parts. It will take about 2 weeks to get everything in. Email me in about 2 weeks if you haven't heard from me.

Nice hearing from you...you know you can always count on me.

You make my day
;- )"

No dealerships in Richmond will acknowledge that there is an issue with 3rd gear or even a service bulletin out for this issue. There is no point for me to pay a diagnostic fee, for a tech to tell me he or she couldn't replicate the issue.

Is there a class action suit out there against Honda for their negligence to provide a reasonable fix for our transmission issues?

Call Honda Canada 1-888-946-6329

Your dealership will NOT be aware until Honda Canada releases this information to them. If your dealer was smart, they would've placed this call for you. Most dealers are too lazy to research on behalf of the customer and usually throw up a wall if it's "not in their system".

Thanks. Hopefully the problem will be gone (permanently).

I was wondering if they would give me a hard time over all of my mods. They never said a word.

I have the short shifter, cable & base bushings, and I was just waiting for them to rag on me over them.

One of my big concerns now is my Hondata reflash -- I hope they didn't wipe that out...

I'll post all of my comments about it in a few hours from now.

So I am really excited. I just made my appnt for my car on May 5th. I know its silly but I've never been so happy. 3rd gear really pisses me off so bad. The dealership was aware of the TSB and are now attempting to stockpile parts for what I'm assuming will be on onslaught of fed up SI owners coming in. But since I'm one of the first I'll have to wait for my parts to come in.

Well yeah it is addtional warranty that you can purchase, i didnt buy mine new, but i was still able to purchase the honda care..

GL on the courtesy car, my dealer still said it was a no go, but they did say that they would bill honda care directly if i wanted a rental when they finally get my parts in from back order

Update for me.

Went to the dealer yesterday and the guy told me the parts are coming in 2 ~ 3 days.
Just got a call from the dealer saying that my parts are in. Made an appointment tomorrow morning at 9 AM. Hopefully my car will be done by Friday at least. :)

Everything went very well at the dealer tonight, when I picked up my SI. I got out on the road and immediately started giving it a workout. All of my shifts were clean, and no 3rd gear hangup/grinding/popout. However, the shifter seemed a little stiffer than normal during all of my shifts, but I am guessing that will improve with time.

In any case, I will see how it feels with more time behind the wheel... especially tomorrow morning when the temperature is lower. I'll keep everyone posted.

So far so good.

UPDATE: got a call yesterday that parts are in, took my car in to the dealership, dropped my car off and they gave me a rental (free). So far I'm hoping that all goes well. I've heard lots of good things about the fix, so I'll give a review when I get it back. (should be friday the latest)

i went to honda to pick up my maf cause i messed it up , i spoke to guy at the counter , we spoke about the 3rd gear problem (smithtown honda) he said they are fixing 3rd gear problem there but if you have a intake /exhaust or header you are good as dead cause they won't fix it. He said i should put all my stock parts before i take it there.

I have just about every mod except forced induction, and my dealer never said a word to me.
