Anyway, the dealer calls me mid afternoon and says that they were able to recreate the "problem" and that they have to order the parts and that the majority of them are on back-order. He said it could take 1 day or 1 month to receive the parts.

Has anyone experienced this with their dealer yet? The dealer also said that once the parts are in, they are going to keep the SI for 3 days. I would have to rent a car due to the fact that Honda does not have a loaner car program. At $30/per day for the rental plus tax and gas, it is going to be well over $100!! This just does not sit well me with. The car is still under the factory warranty, why should I be expected to pay out of pocket for the rental???

I tried bringing this point up when I picked up the SI today, but the dealer said that I was responsible for the cost of the rental.

Does anyone have any suggestions about the whole rental car issue or should I just eat the cost of this????

Oh yeah, I took the SI to O'Hare Honda (Northwest Chicago area). Thanks for the advise/input!!!
u should tell them to call u when they get them in....n badger the shit out of them because they prob wont call u back

That suck ass dude I asked my dealership about the rental before even asking about the TSB and mine is included in a Honda care plan. Seeing as though I'm employed with a rental car company the taxes will be more than your per day rate, fight that tooth and nail guy.

I told them to call me once they receive the parts. Then once they receive them, I will need to schedule an appt. for the SI to get in. Not for nothing, but this is a pain in the ASS. Hopefully, I will get this done soon and the 3rd gear issue will no longer be that, an issue!

Another thing, just got off the phone with North America Honda to see about getting the whole rental car expenses taken care of. They had to open a case up regarding my situation and they said that a "case manager" will be calling me in the next day or two to hopefully resolve the rental expense. We will just have to wait and see what happens my friends!!!

si4fun,

according to the honda car warrenty they will reimburse you for 35bucks a day up to 6 days.. IF you go in your owner link on hondas website, then click warrentys, and click honda care you can read it, and it is listed in there.

that is for a rental. My dealer is giving me a courtesy car, so all i have to do is fill up the tank. Kicker, we are talking about American Honda, not our dealers. I would rather just have to fill up the tank then have to do all that other crap to get reimburse for $35 a day.

thanks for the info. correct me if i am wrong, but i think Honda Care is an additional warranty that can be purshased when the car is new. i did not buy this when i bought my SI new in 2006. i will mention this to the dealer though whenever they decide to call me to let me know that the parts are in for the TSB.

well, i think you should consider yourself LUCKY!! i asked my dealer about a courtesy/loaner car while the SI was in the shop and they pretty much laughed in my face. i even said that i would cover the fuel expense, but they were firm in their response, "we only have rental cars available, at your expense."

i def. agree with you, i would just rather be responsible for the fuel of a courtesy car and call it a day!!!

Back From the Dealership

Just got home with my car after having the transmission fix everyone here is interested in. The drive home went great. Approximately an hour drive back with no problems engaging third or any other gear. 2nd to 3rd shifting is much better. I didn't hit the notch going into third that I normally do. I am happy with the way she feels so far.

Hopkins Honda is one of the largest Honda dealers in the midwest, if I am not mistaken. They have a huge inventory, and it is a Luther dealership, so when you buy your car from them it is in the contract that if there is work that will take more than a day you get a loner car YAY to me. Except after having my Si, they gave me a 4dr civic ex and OMG it sucks hAHAHA....

no balls

it sux for some of u that have to leave ur cars for longer than a day... my advice would be to set up an appt, if u have to go there then do that, make sure they order the parts and only take ur car when the parts are in, then all the waiting is left to the tech working on it...

Walser Honda, near Hopkins Honda, is much, much smaller (though their new dealership is surpassing Hopkins for #1 biggest Honda dealer in the state once it is built), and they have several loaner cars.

And I dropped the car off today, and they accidently loaned out the car they promised me for a loaner, so they called their Enterprise rep, and got me in a car within 20 minutes, at their expense.

I feel sorry for you guys who have shit dealers. Walser Honda has been great to me.

Guys I would say that this fix is a success. I have had no grinds or any problem engaging any gear like I usually do in the morning. I hope everything works out for everyone, keep trying and being persistant because this seems to have worked.

^ Have you tried redlining it in 2nd and shifting to 3rd fast? That's a guaranteed grind befor the TSB fix.

Yes, no problems. The 2nd to 3rd shift at any RPM is smooth. I have had no grinds at all.
